My husband and I and our 2 year old are going to Orlando this weekend to visit from friends. We were going to go to Disney, but I am 6 months pregnant and my feet hurt too bad to do all that walking, unfortunetly! I live in Jacksonville, Fl and wanted to stop and do a state park, or natural spring or even something that I am totally unaware of! I just can't do a lot of walking right now. Any suggestions on stops along the way to Orlando that my 2 year old and husband would enjoy that we may not find ourselves? Thanks for any suggestions...

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks to all the awesome suggestions!!! We ended up leaving Jax and drove down HWY 17 to Ponce DeLeon Springs (which was really cool!) They have a sugar mill that you can have all you can eat pancakes in the park! And the spring is beautiful too! We then kept going down 17 through Deland and drove through Stetson University (another beaufitul place!) and ended up going to Blue Springs and walked the boardwalk! Wish we had more time to swim , but we will definelty go back this summer sometime! On our way back we did go to Wekiwa Springs and it was our favorite! It is like a hidden treasure right in Orlando! Thanks for all of your suggestions! Great experience both on the road and for my first time on mamapedia!

The Nasa Space Center is fun. You can take the bus tour around the facility and the activities inside are not too spread out.

I FEEL YA :) My daughter was 2 and a half while i was pregnant with our son (who is 8 months old now). And i was so big and so tired, i barely kept up with her... We live 30 minutes from Orlando and i found lots of things to take my daughter to that were FREE, had a place for me to SIT MY BIG BUTT DOWN and that had SHADE for us to rest in.
If you are coming from Jacksonville on I-95 to I-4 these will be on the way to Orl off I-4... Try looking up the Deltona Festival Park. It's basically a huge playground... Also try the small water park/playground in Orange City on 17-92, the name escapes me for the moment. I would go on weekdays NOT weekend's. Less people at the water hole and park benches or gazebo's.
Also there is the Sanford Zoo on 17-92. They have fun activities and events for toddlers and book reading's etc . Go their website to view details and prices.
Hope these help you in finding something to do :)
Have a great time vacationing at Disney and good luck with the baby on the way !!!

Yes, tons! Check out 386Parents.com for a pretty good event calendar and tons of ideas. Holly Hill has a vineyard, Ormond Beach has the best city park (Rainbow Park, huge, all under oak trees, tons of shade on Nova Rd. next to the Trails Shopping Center) and Tom Renick Park right on A1A. The website lists all the parks & splash parks, fun place to go and attractions in the area too. 386Parents also list things to do outside the area. Need numbers and listings for places too? Check out 386Everything.com It's not just another directory that skimpy, but all listings & maps in Volusia & Flagler counites. Makes looking for these places very easy. I have 2 little ones and we stay busy! You can get updates on Facebook too. Hope this helps!
