we just moved to haslet and are looking for things to do with our 21month old son. He is very active and really likes out doors but enjoys all activities.
We just moved here a few weeks ago too and I would highly suggest the Fort Worth Zoo and The Dallas Arts and Science Museum..they have a great Children's area..and lots of room to play behind the museum. Good luck..and I hope you like it here!
One thing that comes to mind for me is the train down by the Ft. Worth Zoo...It's outside of the zoo and is a lot of fun and pretty cheap. It's about a 30-40 minute round trip. Of course, its pretty hot right now, but I've been taking my boys for years and they just love it!! They are 7 and 5 now and still love it!

There's the Fort Worth Zoo, the Tarantula Train in Grapevine takes you out to the stockyards, Leapin Lizards in NRH, Let's Jump in Keller, most movie theatres are doing the kids movie events during the day that are super cheap, NRH2O is in NRH or Chisolm Park Pool (Hurst or Bedford I forget which)

We moved to Haslet about a year ago, and are also looking for things to do in the area. Here are a few things I have found, if you don't mind driving a bit:
Bear Creek Park in Keller is great. The creek turns into a little pond, and there are always ducks, geese, fish, and turtles to feed. There is a nice walking path if he will ride in a stroller, there is a nice playground area, a large field for soccer, baseball, volleyball nets, basketball court, roller hockey court, just a little bit of everything. My only complaint is that there is not enough shade in the playground area. there are lots of trees around the creek.
We also like to go to Fort Worth to the Japanees Gardens, (in the botanical gardens). There is a large coy fish pond, with little food dispensers around. My son loves to feed them. When he was younger, I would take a vinal table cloth and lay on the ground. He could lay on his stomache and get really close to the fish to feed them with no fear of him falling in.
The science museum is nice, but maybe a little above him right now. There is a sand pit, where kids can dig for fossils. That is always fun for little ones.
Saginaw has a small water park that is really geared toward little kids, and Keller has a larger one. When he gets a little older there is NRH20 in North Richland Hills.
If you're involved in a church, a lot of times the mothers get together on specified days and do things with the kids. You might check that out.
My son loves story time at the Haslet Library, and we go there sometimes just to look at the books, and I read to him.

Fort Worth Nature Center on Jacksboro Highway is really nice, there's a small fee, but there's hiking, a small nature center & picnic areas. You can go down by the river, we always see animals there. Also, Ft. Worth Zoo is wonderful and easy to do in less than a day. We generally go when it opens and take a picnic, see the animals eat our picnic and are home by 1:30. If you don't want to become a member Wednesday's are 1/2 price.
We moved to Haslet about a year ago and are expecting our first child in January. I know that the Haslet Library always has activites for kids like Story Hour to Arts & Crafts. They usually post activities in the newspaper that is delivered in the mail on Fridays. =)
We love the FW Zoo too, but it's so hot that we haven't been in a while. Choo Choo Station in the Grapevine Mills Mall is fun too. The Glenview Treehouse is great for your son's age, and it's free! One more place is called Wazoo's in Argyle. It's a bounce house place but also has a toddler area in it. I've never been there but my playgroup is planning to give it a try at the end of the month. Meetup.com also has larger playgroups with lots of stuff always going on weekly. I'm in a couple of different playgroups, and this is the way to always find something fun to do with your child and meet some great moms as well.
Glenview Baptist Church has an amazing indoor tree house play area that is super cool, they open it to the public on certain Mondays based on age group and it's free! It's nice because the kids can run and climb and it's inside out of the summer heat. I always end up inside the big tree climbing with my kids and we have a blast.

The Ft Worth Science Museum has a place where kids can dig out dino bones that they have burred. The museum provides the shovels and everything!
Wednesday is half price day at the Ft. worth zoo, and there is that little train to ride just outside the Zoo that my kids love, but I can never remember the name of it.
