The Meaning of Dreams

Lately I have been having some very detailed dreams that I do not know what the true meaning is. Does anyone know how to have your dreams interpreted? I am afraid of what they might mean and the state of my psyche. They are very real and involve family members and hard decisions. I think about them all day as I do not understand what they mean. Please let me know what you have done when this happens to you. Thanks for all your advice.

What can I do next?

my husband was told in the Navy that violent dreams are a sing of sleep deprivation. I have a dream book and they are interesting. Once I was actually able to confirm that the dream my husband had was true based on the dream book and what happened later.

What they mean is you are dwelling on your conscious thoughts in your dreams. If the outcome of your dream is different from your conscious thoughts it could mean that you are ignoring your true feelings on the subject.

An example is you eat ice cream. You figure you have been doing well on your diet so it won't hurt you. Then you dream that something awful happened to you because you ate ice cream. It could mean that you know you haven't been doing well on your diet and you really didn't need those calories.

Our bodies have strange ways of telling us the truth.

Maybe you should look up the meaning of dreams here online. I have 2 dream books, but of course I cannot put my hands on them. One is
10,000 dreams interpreted and the other is a Dream dictionary. http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/943435.10_000_Dreams_I...

I am always amazed at how well they help explain them.

I also keep a dream journal which I date the page.

I know the difference between the dreams that are about things I am going through and the ones that have to do with others. I have a few friends that I have told them the dreams and what I have figured out they mean.

Dreams usually aren't all that difficult to figure out. Write it down and look for connections to what is going on in your life over the last few days.

I occasionally dream that my teeth are crumbling out of my mouth and I can't seem to stop it. This translates to my waking feelings of being unable to control the crazy things that are happening in my life.

I also dream of tornadoes when I am in a tumultuous relationship.

Sometimes I'll look them up online. I'm not into weird dream interpretations, but I believe there is a science to it somewhat. For example, dreams of tornadoes means there is a fear of losing a loved one. Psychologically they've been able to determine that and have been able to with other things too.

Anyway, I would go through your dreams and google "dream interpretation about tornadoes" or whatever was in your dream. You'll find some info that can help.

I heard one time that if you dream that your flying..... means your running away from something or avoiding something in your life. Have no clue if that is true, but sure love those flying dreams....it is so peaceful. Anyone have those ?

Dreams don't mean anything. They're just your brain's way of cleaning itself out - kind of like when you do a disc cleanup and de-frag on your computer. If dreams were prophetic, I would be starring in an x-rated episode of "I Love Lucy" with the entire cast in Kabuki makeup.

Dreaming is your bodies way of processing what you have done during that day, or the previous few days. Your thoughts that you have had, things that you have done, said, listened to. It is your brains way of storing things in your long and short term memory, and kicking out the stuff it doesn't need, so it can save important room for the stuff that you do need. They don't really "mean" anything other than you have obviously been thinking about the things in your dream. Our brains work in funny ways, and will skew thoughts sometimes. I am doing neuroanatomy at the moment, and we have been studying dreams, and they have done looootttts of experiments on dreaming patients, and that is basically the answer they came up with.

N., check out http://www.dreammoods.com It really helped me. There was a time I kept dreaming that I had to go to the bathroom and I would go into a public bathroom and not only did none of the stalls have doors but the toilets were disgusting, I mean stuff all over the seat, the floor, over flowing...you get the picture. And it bugged me that i didn't know what it meant so I googled it and the website above actually had that discription of what it meant (and I guess its pretty common) but I thought I was some kind of weirdo! Anyway, I hope it helps! Good luck!!!
