I have a fitted sheet that has been in the dryer for nearly 2 weeks, because I don't want to fold it.

We use plastic utensils and paper plates beacuse I am too lazy to unload the dishwasher. I have had a glass in the dishwasher for at least two months because it has spots on it and I refuse to hand wash it. I regularly throw away perfectly good tupperware after it has lived in the back of the fridge until is has something growing in it and just go buy a new set. Don't judge me:)

My suggestion? Just ignore it--leave it in there.
Eventually it will become like a piece of furniture and you'll stop noticing it completely!

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who lets our dog do the heavy cleaning on some dishes! Those dogs do come in handy. Great for spills on the floor too... :)

True story ... Dog was away at the beach for a couple of days and I really missed her .... And not because of her sweet disposition and unconditional love (though, she is sweet), but because "I" was now the one cleaning up after LO. Dang was I happy when our sweet little black dog came home again!

Well then I should start a board called The Cheap Housewife. My dishwasher died over six months ago and I've been washing by hand ever since just because I'm too damn cheap to go out and buy a new one!

A couple weeks ago I was looking for a sweater I wanted to wear. I mean I looked EVERYWHERE. Under the bed..... in the sheets at the bottom of the bed (yes, don't judge!!!), behind the dresser. It was NOWHERE to be found.
A few DAYS after that my daughter goes to do laundry. She comes upstairs with a smirk on her face..... asking why there is a load of dry clothes in the washing machine!!! Yep... not only my sweater but an ENTIRE load. The nearest we could tell as we were figuring timelines is that they'd been in there close to a week - because neither of us had remembered doing laundry for that long!!!!!
I'm just glad none of the clothes molded or smelled bad enough that they never got clean!!!!!

I don't know, but probably it will only take a couple more drying cycles to back that cheese on there for good!
At our house, peanut butter is the culprit. I just gave up on the dishwasher for that!

Theresa - we are cosmically connected through dirty spoons. I've been doing the same thing with a spoon covered in dried on Guacamole, and I even soaked it before running it through...but your post has broken the spell...I will give it an old hand scrubbing.

How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop???
I do think you'll need to soak it for a bit or let the dogs play with it

Try placing it in a different position in the dishwasher - like lying on the top rack ;)
I hate doing dishes so if it's not dishwasher safe I didn't want it anyway.

I guess I would soak it in water, then run it through the dishwasher again. Hoping that the spoon would come out clean.
Please let us know how many times it does take. Curious minds want to know!

Is that sort of like "How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop?" I say throw the spoon in a glass full of hot water let sit, rub and clean. Thanks for the laugh too because I really needed it this morning!

I put some soap and water in a glass and soak all those peanut butter spoons my DH leaves around. There's a plate in the DW that's gone through at least two washes now....

Try scraping it off with your thumbnail, then run it thru the dishwasher a few more times -- that usually works for me. ;-)

I soak all those toughies (spoons, plates, bowls with caked cheese, peanut butter, potatoes, rice) in the sink in about 3-4 inches of hot water. All those caked sticky hard-to-clean ick is gone.
And then I promptly forget to load them back into the dishwasher. The next morning, they're still right there in the sink, soaking.

I don't have an automatic dishwasher, so I would soak that ol' spoon for five minutes in hot water, and then it will come clean.
I have discovered with hand-washing that you can still find dishes and utensils that need re-washing a second or third time, too. If you don't use soap on the surface, you can't expect it to get the surface clean. Duh! Took me a while to realize that, though.

Too many. Just put the spoon in a coffee cup with warm water and the cheese will melt, then it will take only one cycle.
I understand how you feel. I hate washing dishes before I put them in the dishwasher to wash the dishes.
Good luck to you and yours.

Thank you for this funny post. As I sit here with insomnia reading through older questions, what a treat it is to find out I am not alone. In fact, when I woke, tossed and turned, got up to get a glass of milk, and looked at my kitchen still a mess from last night's dinner, I briefly thought "I could clean the kitchen while everyone's asleep" but no here I am reading old posts. LOL Oh and it's great to learn there are so many mamas out there with kindred spirits--letting the spoon sit in the dishwasher for countless cycles, re-washing clothes, letting the dog pre-wash plates, choosing a top loading washer instead of a front load (my decision was based on the fact that my MIL had one ruined, because she missed a tool in a FIL's pocket--clean pockets before washing pfft) and many more. I think for me my laziest is that I will get DH and DS of to work and school, stay in pjs until about 2 hours before DS is to be picked up from school, scramble around to "tidy" up the house, take a quick shower and get dressed right before I have to pick him up. I would definately join The Lazy Housewife chat board.

LOL Thanks for the good chuckle!
When my 3rd baby was born, our washer broke...THAT WEEK! I drug my behind out washer shopping and we were looking at front loaders. The sales lady said that w/ most of them if you forget to take the load out that day or especially the next the washer will start to smell and you have to re-wash the clothes. Dealbreaker.
We bought a normal top-loader :)

I need to show this post and the responses to my husband.
He's the neatik in the family and is the only reason I can't leave that spoon in the dishwasher for the next 12 cycles. I have to throw the tupperware away when he's not looking and simply can't understand why I don't put the laundry away immediately after it is dry.
