ThankSpilt Wax on Wooden Table!

I was playing with my cat and accidentially knocked over a candle that was burning on the coffee table. Of course wax spilled all over it! Do any of you Mamma's or Dad's have any ideas how I can get the wax ( or at least some of it) off of the table? I definitely have learned to put the candle up higher on a shelf from now on. Thank you all for any help you can give me.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you so much ladies! I used the iron and also the blow dryer and it worked like a charm! My table is back to normal thanks to you! :)

Oh btdt :) here's what worked well for me. first take a plastic putty knife and gently scrape off as much of the excess wax as possible. These are available at pretty much any store for REALLY cheap ... we're talking 50 cents to a dollar, if you don't already have one.

Next take a blow dryer, set it on medium heat, aim it at the wax residue for a few minutes, when it melts wipe with a soft cloth or paper towel. Voila bye bye wax.

The blow dryer trick works really well for crayons on the wall too :) but for crayons on the wall you can set it at a higher temp :)

I wouldn't go too high a heat on the wood table though.

Good luck :)

Put ice on it and then it should lift off. Use a plastic credit card to scrape off any that doesn't come off.

I suggest that the section on which the wax spilled will be shinier afterwards because it will have extra wax. You can wax the rest of the table with furniture wax.

I second the ice trick. I wouldnt use the iron on the wood because you chance messing up the finish. Just ice it and scrap it off with a plastic utensil such as a credit card and then just wash it with mild soap and water when all the wax is gone
Good Luck

If it's a glass table then just scrap it off. If it's wood, you can try to get it off like you would if it spilled on carpet. Get an iron and a brown paper bag. Put the paper bag over the wax and use the iron on the bag. The heat from the iron melts the wax and the paper bag acts as a sponge and soaks it up. But be careful not to leave the iron on the table for too long or have it too hot.

I had a similar issue on a wood table. First, carefully remove wax & then I used an iron on a medium to med-high setting to remove the mark on the wood. I put a linen dishcloth over the wood for protection & ironed over it. You absolutely cannot tell there was ever a mark on the table. Good luck!
