Hi everyone! Thanks so much for reaching out to me! I know I know I can't believe I waited quite a few days before taking her to the doctor. The fever wasn't as high the first couple of days but like you said , if she has a fever for more than than 24 hours- call her pediatrician- I have definitely learned my lesson. She is now sleeping - thank god she went to bed right away! her fever is still a little high 102. The doctors found nothing from the blood results and said it was a viral infection to keep giving her plenty of fluids and to get some rest as well as Tylenol. I noticed two different things from her though. Her eyes were a little yellow - Could that be from the Motrin? I have decided to stop with the Motrin and tomorrow continue with Tylenol.
I also noticed that she has some kind of white phlegm over her tonsil which is giving her bad breath. My husband said the doctor saw this and didn't say anything. I don't think it's tonsil stones- it's like a clear film over her smal tonsil- now she hasn't complained about it or it's not even swollen- Anything you might suggest?
I really do appreciate the comments and god bless all mommies out there- it's the toughest job in the world but boy- I wouldn't change it for anything!!! :)

So What Happened?

Hi everyone- I went to another hospital and it was very relieving- They said her eyes were not yellow so she wasn't jaundice- Also she has some type of bacterial infection and they gave her antibiotics for 10 days 6ml. We have an appt scheduled for the doctor at his office on the 14th. So I'll know more about the results of the culture they took when were at the hospital this morning. They were glad that she wasn't in pain- but lordi lou the bad breath is horrid!!!! They told me she has the flu on top of it!!! so my poor baby!!! I thank all of you for the advice and support- I will follow up with all of you after the dr.s appt on the 14th
God bless! J.

Get her in to see the dr. ask for the quick strep test (takes 15 min & they will also do the overnight too).
Too many days with a fever, the ped should be concerned too

Don't worry you make the best decisions you can right. Just to let you know. One time my son was sick and his breathing was labored, I was nervous but didn't take him right away b/c we had a houseful of more experienced moms and they all said he was breathing heavy but not the labored breathing you have to worry about. So...we didn't him - until at 2:00 am I got more nervous and took him to the ER. Well, needless to say - the experienced moms were right. He was fine. He was stuffy but not wheezing or seriously laboring. Flash forward to a couple months later. Toddler is sick with the same type of illness. So this time I try not to "freak out" and I wait and take him to the pediatrician the next morning. My DH and I went together and then I was going to go right to work. Well - good thing we went together b/c my pedia said my son had to go to the ER ASAP b/c he was wheezing and labored enough that he needed breathing treatments. OMG - I felt TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I totally misread both situations but I'd like to think that NOW I KNOW for next time! If in doubt over how she's recovering right now, don't feel that you can't call the pedia back. I just took my son to get all checked again b/c he's stuffy AGAIN and was treated for an ear infection two weeks ago - I wanted to be sure I wasn't missing anything! My son is 2.5, my first - we live and learn! When in doubt - go to the doctors! Like now...glad you did!

I am a nurse and have to echo some of the other responses because your post alarmed me so much. Yellow eyes is absolutely abnormal and indicates liver malfunction and you need to go to the doctor immediately. Phlegm on her tonsils is a symptom of strep throat. Please go to the doctor and let us know that your daughter is ok.

Call your doc this morning about the yellow eyes - don't wait. Sounds like jaundice, which is liver-related. Could just be because of the illness and it will resolve, or it could be something else more serious.

it's been quite a few days for her having this fever. i want to ask, did they test her for strep? i keep suggesting to moms who post here about unexplained fevers, but our experience with undetected strep was very scary.
her eyes being yellow...you need to call the pediatrician, or better yet, take her in there. for me, any fever that lasts over five days is not something to wait for to resolve on its own. take her in. and then let us know what happened
good luck

Yellow eyes can be something to worry about... I would just call the nurse and ask if they are concerned.

Call you doc right away. Tylenol can be linked to liver problems. Be sure to tell your doctor how much Tylenol you are giving your daughter. Also, be sure to sak the correct dosage. Tylenol is always called the safer choice but really, is it?

Also, she may not have developed strep yesterday but perhaps today she is showing signs. Get a test done.

I hope all works out and that she is feeling well soon!

Hi J.
Call the MD's Office and tell the nurse. She can ask the MD any question and get back to you.

Never assume that the MD saw, knows, or remembers, unless he said something about it. New symptoms require a phone call. It may be just the symptom he needs to make the right diagnosis. Did MD say when you would see improvement? Always ask saying "I'll call Friday then if he is not better" after counting the time he says. ( At least all mine always said give it a day or two.) Then the MD will respond. Anything that lasts longer or has new symptoms, I opt for calling.

This sounds to me like a phone call is needed. Always better to be safe than sorry.

God bless you and may he recover quickly
