Thank You Gift Suggestions for Daycare

My kids have been going to a church daycare. My oldest has been going there for over 2 years and my youngest has been going there 3 months. I recently was layed off from my work so I am now going to be a stay at home mom. I need some suggestions for a goodbye (thank you) gift. I would like to get the "teachers" at daycare something to say thank you for taking such good care of my kids. However, I don't know what to get. It's hard because it's a center and there are many people looking after the kids. If I did the 3 main people in the baby room that have been with him and the 2 main people in toddler's room, that would be 5 gifts. Of course I don't want to spend too much on them since I would have 5 to get but I don't want it to be too cheap either. I would like to do individual gifts for each instead of one group gift because I want it to go towards them and not the center. What would you guys suggest? How much should I spend on each? Their last day is Friday so I need to get something today (Wed) or tomorrow (Thurs). I just want to show my appreciation but yet not have it as a cheap gift and something that they can't use.

What can I do next?

I second the food idea--something that can be shared. Most people don't need another mug or knick-knack.

I also think a gift card to Target or Micheal's would be most appreciated. The budgets at most centers are tight, and they could purchase stuff they need.

I would have the card read something like, "Thank you to Mary, Sue, and Beth--and everyone else--at XYZ Center for taking such great care of my kids." There may have been people who did stuff here and there with your kids, and you don't want to hurt their feelings.

I know you mentioned wanting to get something for each of them individually but instead if you wanted to get them something they could use in their rooms that would be appreciated especially since their budgets are probably tightened as well. Another idea if you have the time before Friday is to put the dry ingredients to differnt cookies or something in a jar with the directions of what to add and how to bake it (ex would be everything except the vanilla, oil, milk and eggs for chocolate chip cookies and attach the remaining directions). Sorry to hear about the lay off but congrats on having the ability to stay home with your kids.

Good suggestion from the other poster!! Food to share be it a basket of muffins and coffee or a coupon for a big sub or pizza for lunch. Also, the gift card is a good idea too so they can buy something for the center.

I have two suggestions:
1. I'm a nurse and we often have multiple nurses taking care of one patient and they want to say thank you.
the patient will get a basket and put yummies in it such as fruit, candies of carmel popcorn with one card thanking everyone. We put it in the breakroom and everyone sees and shares it. I think it is the words written that mean more then the gift.
2.A gift card so the center could buy something they need or want for everyone to use or a item you could think of that the kids could use.
I'm sorry that you got laidoff, it is not good times out there right now.
