Thank You Gift for Babysitter

I have had my childern at the same sitter for the past two years and am now leaving the in-home childcare to put my children in a daycare center close to the house. Since we've been with the sitter for so long and are leaving on good terms I feel like I should give her a small thank you gift but am unsure of what to give. Any suggestions would be great.

What can I do next?

Teri, My mom has done home daycare for the past 30+ years. When the kids leave it is hard. The sending photo's and christmas cards etc is a good idea. But something a home daycare person never gets is personal time. The person above who suggested the spa day was right. something for herself. not for the daycare. my mom already puts most of what she makes right back into the daycare and very rarely does she treat herself to those type things. or even just a gift card for a meal out that she herself does not have to cook. good luck with the kids. and don't be worried if they go thru a withdrawl time from the daycare all kids go thru it.

I always try to give a gift that the person would never buy for themselves. Some people would love to have a spa experience but would never dream of indulging themselves. So a spa day of massage, Pedi, Mani, etc would be great. Just think about what that person loves, art, music, relaxation, and go with a gift that they would never splurge on for themselves, tickets and transporation to see a museum, play etc.

A little about me:

Our oldest boys sent YEARS with our wonderful SAH-Nanny in her home. I was a 'career' mom at the time and spent hours and days away from them, could NOT have done it without her. THAT being said, we left her when the boys started school. We gave her a photo frame of the boys when we parted and we have sent her photos EVERY year since. Although I am fortunate now that I am a SAHM with our youngest, we STILL send photos and ‘visit’ whenever we can. If I am back at home and need a sitter, she is the FIRST person on my list. She is a grandmother now, and is patiently waiting the arrival of my grandson, to get even MORE photos of who she calls “her kids”. I think a photo frame, with photos of the kids, <and remember to update> would be one of the ‘from the heart’ gifts she will always treasure.

I love the idea of a manicure, but that sometimes can be fairly expensive, depending on where you go. I may be partial, but I sell a product called SCENTSY - it makes a perfect and inexpensive gift. It is brand new, and LOTS of people buy it as gifts. Right now, everything is 10% off, until the end of Feb. Each warmer (many styles and very high quality!) are now $22.50, and each bar of melting wax is $4.50 (80 scents to chose from). This gift is a mother's dream, as it is WICKLESS, FLAMELESS, and SOOTLESS. It melts wax to just above body & room temperature via a 25 watt light bulb. There is zero risk of injury or fire! You can visit my website at www.scentsy.com/jodialbertini - be sure to check out the packages, to save money on multiple products. Please contact me via my website with any questions. Best wishes in your quest to find the perfect gift!!! J.

Gift card from her favorite salon? Enough so she could get a manicure or something for herself?

Does she like plants? How about some potted herbs in a pretty basket?

And last but certainly not least, a home-made thank you card from your boys.

Hi T.,
Maybe a personalized Keychain or a Personalized Tote Bag for her items? (depending on her personality/style of course)

Check out jabstweettweet.etsy.com (my store) for some of these ideas!
Good luck finding the perfect gift!

How many other kids are in her home? Maybe she would appreciate a basket of arts & crafts supplies or other consumables to use?
