Texas Driver's License for Home Schooled Teen?

I am still new to home schooling and I wanted to see if anyone knows the answer to my question. I've looked and can't find an answer.

For my 16 yr old son's driving instruction permit, how do we complete the attendance form for school? He is home schooled by me but we also use an online school for the curriculum. I think that it might be hard to get this online school to fill this verification of enrollment form, since I am doing the teaching at home, they are just giving materials. DO I fill it out as administrator?

So What Happened?

Today I called DPS in Austin and finally reached someone live. They said to fill it out as I am the administrator of this home school. Thanks everyone for the help!

If you are using Driver's Ed in a Box, there is a homeschool version. If its a different provider, than call the provider or look on their website. Good luck!

Are you homeschooling driver ed as well?

Call a good driver ed school and ask them about the VOE form and who fills it out if you are homeschooling.

Call and ask them. I'm sure they've dealt with this before, and they should at least be able to provide proof of enrollment if not fill it out.

I've been there twice, although it was nearly 10 years ago. I know I had my husband sign as the administrator and I think it had to be notarized. We always used my name as teacher and his as principal on any paperwork. I know everytime we sent a transcript to our insurance for the good grades discount we had to have the transcript notarized. Home schools are still considered private schools in the state of Texas.
Oh, bringing back memories! I loved that time of being chauffered. Enjoy!

Yes you fill it out as administrator. There should be no issue with either DPS or the school. I'm in the process now with my 15YO and it's been a very easy process.

thsc.org might help you. You don't have to be a member to use their website and they can answer a lot of your questions. I believe that members get a discount on the home school version of Drivers Ed. in a Box. You are his teacher/administrator (could be your husband) and in Texas we are considered to be a private schools and aren't subject to the attendance requirements etc.
