When I was preggo with my now 2.5 year old daughter I was on Terbutaline from 26 weeks through 35 weeks. From 32 weeks until delivery at 35 weeks they had me on all kinds of drugs to help prevent contractions. She was born at 35 weeks and 2 days totally healthy at just under 6lbs. The only issue she had was jaundice.
I have a 4.5 yo son who can barely sit still, who is not "book smart" kid, but is definitely "street smart" and intelligent and very sociable.
My daughter will be the book smart one out of the two. She enjoys reading and learning new things. She is very articulate even though she actually starting talking later than my son. He started talking just before he turned 1....mumbling simple words from about 6 months. She started really talking at about 15 months. But now at 2.5 her vocabulary and actual understanding of what she says and does is way beyond where my son was at the same age. Different kids have different personalities and do better in certain areas of life than others.
Both my kids were vaccinated on schedule. Thankfully our ped spaces out the shots. We usually do 2 shots max at a time.
My daughter also has some food allergies, but I attribute that more to family history than to anything else. I have my own food allergies, DH has 1 food allergy, my Dad had Asthma, and my MIL had eczema. So allergies do run in our family.
I am really on the fence with vaccinating. I don't really like to do them. But I do understand the pro's and con's. My main reasons for vaccinating are:
1- with so many kids these days not being vaccinated, the chances of weird diseases that have mostly been eliminated reappearing are greater.
2- if we as a family decide to travel to foreign countries, I want my children's bodies armed with the right defenses against any strange diseases.
But I would do more research on each individual immunization before you make your decision. You may find that you will allow certain immunizations, but not others based on your studies.
Congrats on being a New Mommy! Enjoy your little guy and try not to worry about all the "What If's".
