Hi Moms!
I am looking for an older type of telephone. My parents have just about had it with their cordless phone! They are old-school, not the cell phone type yet. They prefer having a house phone but really wish they could have the older types. I am looking for one or a couple like maybe from the 80's-90's?? The push button type before we went cordless. I wouldn't even mind a rotary dial phone. I really want one (or some) that are in good to excellent condition though. Can anyone please help me? Or let me know where I might be able to locate them? I want to surprise them! They would be ecstatic!! Thanks in advance!!
Thank you so, so much for all the wonderful suggestions!! I'm going to get on it tomorrow!! I also love corded phones especially when the power goes out!! You all are a great help!

Here you go...this is totally what we had in my house. I was trying to explain to my daughter that we used to only be able to talk on corded phones...she didn't get it. HAH!

We bought a traditional corded phone at Target made by AT&T. We have a house line. If the power goes out we need a phone that still works. It takes batteries for things like caller ID to work but we didn't care about that. It wasn't very expensive either.
If you truly want a vintage phone try ebay maybe or craigslist or thrift stores even.
I have a touch-tone model that's in good condition. Don't know how I'd get it to you though. I'm in the north east SF bay area. You can call me if you're interested ###-###-####.
I was looking for one yesterday for my mother who is 85. I needed a phone that is loud with large buttons. I called AT&T to find out if they still sold those types of phones and I was told to look online. I found a few on Amazon.
How about this? It's corded with big numbers and a HUGE display for caller ID. $25.

ATT makes a good corded phone; we have two.
Hi J., I just googled and found http://telephones.att.com/att/index.cfm/corded-telephones...
Also online Walmart has the kind with an answering machine
I have one I have had for 25 years that I hang on to because when the electricity goes out I need the old fashioned kind.
Have a blessed day, S.
I just had to buy a new cordless for my home and was surprised to see corded phones at Radio Shack.
I don't have a cell phone so a corded back up is necessary if the power goes out. Mine is literally ancient.
I haven't seen rotary phones unless you go totally vintage. The only problem with that is that you can't use touch tone. Nowadays, so many things are "Press 1 for English" or "To use the company directory, press 8".
You can't press anything with a rotary phone.
Best wishes.
You can also check out Vermont Country Store (vermontcountrystore.com) for corded phones. They have 4 different kinds of touchtone corded phones. Rotary phones are out there but harder to find. I personally have a corded touch tone phone from Pottery Barn. I like the ringer better than the cordless phones.
My mother and her husband are in the same boat. They use the cordless phone but not well and push buttons all the time. Answering machine is off strangely most of the time and I wanted to get them the older kind but they want to walk around with the phone. I'm sure you can find one of the older ones one of the places suggested. I keep one all the time at our house for use when the electricity is out as the cordless ones don't work then but the older one does. You may want one too for emergencies.
