Hey, my little girl is 15 months old and I know shes popping a few teeth at the moment but late Wednesday night (Saturday morning now) she woke from her sleep to a fever. First it was around 100, and I was able to break it for a bit yesterday with some tylenol but this morning she woke up with a 102... Is this teething at this point? Or something else? Neither myself nor my MIL know quite what to do.

Only was able to break her fever once with tylenol, now its ineffective.

Please help.

What can I do next?

It may be from the teething, however, at this point you just need to control the fever. Alternate Ibuprofen and tylenol. Take your cues from her behavior (and other symptoms) to know if she need to see her doctor.

My kids both got close to 102 when cutting their teeth. They would also slobber a lot and get stuffy/running noses. Every time. But some people would still tell me that a fever associated with teething is an old wives tale. But you could not convince me of that.

Good luck.

alternate with children ibuphrophen(motrin) and tylenol. she may have a ear infection going on. It may be that the ear infection and teething are going on at the same time. I would tell you to take her to the doctor if she still has a fever. She has some kind of infection with that kind of fever.

Ped always told me they might get a low-grade fever with teething...102 is no longer low-grade. I would think it is some sort of virus or something if she isn't waking screaming (which would be a sign of ear infection). Best wishes.

ibforin is stronger but not recommended for the just born that is why we all start with tylenol. Ibforin is also better at bringing down higher fevers like 102. Check with your doctor or a pharamist about the dosage. They might even recommend doing the ibforin and then an hour( has to be at least an hour later) some tylenol. Our youngest would get fevers like yours and be screaming for hours til we did both medicines. Teething is hard on everyone, especially the molars. A new popsicle came out, called mini melts that are just the right size for her. Also, try to make sure she is getting enough fluids as that helps too with fevers. Finally, letting her run around the house in just a diaper or so can make her happy too.

Good luck and try to get some sleep while she naps.

Throw the Tylenol in the garbage. It reduces glutathione levels in the liver. This is exactly what we need to get better since it's the body's largest natural antioxidant. Swith to Motrin or Advil.

My kids run REALLY high fevers with anything, even just teething. If her behavior is telling you she isn't sick, then she probably isn't. Meaning, if she is running around and eating ok (teething can cause a loss in appetite too, probably because their mouth hurts) and playing and pottying, then she's probably fine. Motrin really is more effective for teething (or ear infections) because it's an anti-inflammatory, so will take down the swelling on the gums and under the ears and sinuses, and Tylenol is just pain relief. Try some motrin (same as ibprofen), and if she is acting "sick" or not herself, take her in and get her checked out. It's better to go to the doctor and have an answer than sit at home and worry :)

Sounds too high to be from teething. I'd take her to see a doctor.
