my daughter has taken a long time to get teeth and now it seems they have all started to come in at once. her four front teeth are cutting now and it seems really hard for her. i have a 2 1/2 year old as well and her teeth started to come in at 4 months and just kept coming with no real problems. i was wondering if anybody had any ideas about snacks or things i can give her to chew on. shes also started a runny nose do you think thats related to teething? or another issue altogether. any advice will be helpful!!

What can I do next?

Hello. This is my first time responding to a request!! When my sons were teething I found that the oragel or anything that you put directly on the gum comes off almost immedatly because of the drool. I found something that works wonders. They are called teething tablets. They are tiny quick disolve teehing tablets. They work like regular pills do. they get intot he childs system and works from the inside. And most importantly they keep working. You can find them in Wal-Mart in the vitamin isle. If you go to the one on Hwy 29 they are where the kids vitamis are. They are in a white box with blue and oink writnig!! Diffently check those out. Someelse worte saying that they are toxic? I am not a doctor and if you feel more comfertable talk to you ped before giving them. I assure you that my children were not harmed in anyway by taking these tablets. They were not poisened or have some fatal disease. My doc actually recommended them for me. If your child still needs something extra...I know it sounds wierd, but give her a slice of chilled bell pepper. It is hard enough to give her comfort but soft enough not to cause pain!!

Good luck

Sounds like normal teething pain. My son started teethcing at 4 months as well. ANd when his tops came in all 4 came in at one time. He was misrable. the only thing that helped was keeping the gums covered with oragel, and tyenol at night. When his eye teeth and molars cam in all in the same time. He was on tyenol every night for about 2 wks.

Now some moms may tellyou about these hyland teething tablets. I urge you to discuss those wiht your ped BEFORE you admisster them. the reason being , is those teething tablets, as most of htem, contain an ingrediant called belladonna. belladonna can be exteremly toxic. it can cause hullacinations (sp) excessive sleepiness, problems with balance and so on. this herb used to be used alot during Wican rituals, but becasue of it's toxicty it is no longer used in any wiccan ritual. It can be very dangerous, and even a small amount can be fataL. So please research that stuff before you give it.

As far as foods. well i woudl suggest a mesh feeder, these are little mesh bags on a ring that you can put food in and snap it shut. then your baby chews on teh mesh and mashes hte food, without the fear of choking. they are wonderful. you can take any fruit and place it in the freezer till frozen,a nd place bits in teh mesh feeder. this will help to numb the gums and massage them as well. Ice works well in the feeders too. Use tyenol at night. If your little one has been given Motrin before you can alternate moltrin and tyenol. If you little one has not been given moltrin, Peds suggest not giving it the first time at night cause you child could sleep through an allergy episode with motrin.

Just hang in there honey. it iwll get better soon. As soon as the teeth pop through your little one will feel much better.

ETA yea the runny nose is normal teething symptom. Also a rash on their chin or cheeks is also normal ifyou happen to see that appear.

Hi there: my girls did the same (runny nose & cold like symptoms when they teethed)...they have the teething buscuits...a mess, but the kids love thme. Also a carrot or celery stick straight from the fridge. An instead of orajel...rub tylenol or motrin on her gums. If you feel comfortable giving her a popsicle those are great as well. There are some brands that have the 100% fruit popsicles. Anything cool fells good on their gums. Hope this helps...
