Hi A.,
I've been told it's fine to rub the baby teeth with water on a cotton ball or a wet wash cloth. The dentist we use won't even professionally clean baby's teeth until the child is between 2 and 3.
Hope this helps!
Take care,
M.
My daughter has cut her first two teeth. I was wondering if I should start brushing those teeth with the baby toothpaste, or just wait until she has more? I thought I read somewhere that as soon as they start getting teeth, to start cleaning them regularly.

hi A.-
yes! brush those teeth! toothpaste isn't necessary, really a toothbrush isn't either. just wipe with a damp cloth to get any sugar or plaque off, and that will be fine. make sure you clean them regularly so that the plaque comes off easily every time! (it is very soft when it first forms)
while you're in there, wipe off gum tissue as well.
when she's a little older, introduce the idea of a toothbrush to her and get her involved in the process. however, you're going to have to be the one to actually provide daily oral hygiene for her, probably until she's able to tie her own shoes. congratulations on getting through the first tooth-cutting!
Yes, it's alright to start brushing the tiny teethes. I was adviced to do so with my daughter (who is now 8yrs old). It also cultivates the habit of brushing and she actually enjoys doing so. No regrets!
you can start getting use to brushing at any age as long as baby has teeth. You even don't have to use the toothpaste as long as your baby gets use to the process.
When my son started getting his teeth we started brushing them. He is now 4 almost 5 and loves to brush his teeth. I say teach her now so that it's a habit early on.
Start taking care of those little teeth now, the sooner the better! :) We started with my son with his very first tooth, he's 4 now and REMINDS me when his teeth need brushing (which can be up to 4 or 5 times a day when he gets "bored"!) I had a friend that waited and their son had 6 cavities at the first appointment to the dentist and it was a HUGE fight to get him to start brushing. Let the good habits start!
you can buy little finger brushes in the store near the orajel and other teeth products for baby... i dont think you should use anything but water on the brush tho... i never used it with my daughter and her teeth are ok but it is good to get them used to that habit!
yep as soon as they get there first little teeth. brush away.
Hi A.,
I used the silicone thingy that you put on your finger. It is gentle and they like to suck or chew on it. You can rub their little gums also that seems to sooth them when they're teething. Just be careful they don't bite your finger off! LOL. That along with some flouride free toothpaste, it works great!

Yes you can brush them but it has never been something I go out of my way to do. Make sure your making things covenant for your self. When you potty train make sure you potty train the baby, not your self...lol, I know it sounds weird but some ppl are timeing the time in between, not letting the child learn what its like to tell them.... there are books about it. :) ttyl.
