Not paranoid! Really anything can be a choking hazard if it's the right size. You are right to throw it away.
Im a new mommy to a teething baby :) She has two little teeth that have come out along her bottom gum so she's nibbling. I bought her the Earths Best Teething Biscuits which she loves. Being paranoid, Im terrified to let her chomp on it after its become a little nub. Im afraid that its just big enough for her to choke on. Can someone tell me if Im overeacting?

Hi K T,
I don't think your paranoid.
I just wanted to add another great teething food. My 8 month old is also teething and is quit miserable. The other day I was desperate for something to give her. We just happened to have full size carrotts. I peeled one and cut of the small end to a size I was happy with and gave it to her. She was in love! It stays cold for a long time which is soothing and she can bite as hard as she wants and can't get through it. It is also easy to hold and is a great shape for biting! She carries a carrott with her everywhere now!!!
I was really paraniog to when I first gave them to my dauhgter, but they disslove super fast (you can tell that by how messy they are lol) I think when they go to eating solids we all get nevous on the choking factor, its momw its what we do. I would just watch her the 1st time and if she can handle it no worries.
I used those biter biscuits and the zwieback toasts too...until my baby did choke on them. In my opinion, it's not worth the risk!
I dont know if you've ever seen the little baskets out there that they have, but they work great exactly for this. Basically there is a plastic handle with a little net attached where you can put in frozen fruit, or biscuits or anything that is to big for your baby to eat, and through the net they can only get little pieces, so no worries for mom. Plus they have ones where the net screws on or where they snap on so the baby cant open them. Hope this helps:)
We use those food strainer things as suggested in an earlier post. I have a toddler as well so anytime I am cutting an banana for him I take a chunk off put in the chomper and put in the freezer for a bit. It keeps my 7 month so occupied. LOL
You are not overreacting at all. I wouldn't let her have it if it was a nub either. Little ones can choke on things so easily and that is very scary. Be encouraged, you are doing the right thing and you are a great mom.
You're not overreacting at all. I'm terribly worried about choking, so just take them away once they get small. Also, I thought those biscuits were a great way to get them to start chewing because they are too big to swallow (at first anyway)
When it got to the point of a nub (like one inch or so) I was worried too as my daughter would shove the whole thing in her mouth. I would just watch her and when it gets to a scary size I would take it away, cut it into small pieces, and give them back to her on her tray. Don't forget that they do have all their teeth under the gums so there is something hard to chew with. That was some comfort to me.
I used to give my girls a whole, full sized carrot to teethe on. (cut off the narrow pointy part) It was too big to choke on, cold and tasted good too.
no i did the same thing with my oldest, but now i wont use them cause they are way to messy.
My mother-in-law told me my husband choked on a teething biscuit when he was a baby. She freaks out whenever I give one to my baby. But I only give them to her when I am sitting right next to her and then I take it away from her when it gets down to one last piece. They make me nervous, so I rarely give them to her.
Not at all. If you're instincts are telling you something is a hazard, you should always pay attention. My pediatrician strongly recommended against using those biscuits because they can easily be broken off and choked on.
But there are plenty of safe alternatives. Of course, there's the standard teething toys that are rubbery and filled with water so you can refrigerate them. The cold helps relieve the pain a bit.
But if she's into taste, throw some frozen fruit (or even just an ice cube) into one of these doodads and let her chomp away:

Good luck!
I was worried, too. Someone told me to give my son frozen mini-bagels. It gets a little gooey, but it doesn't break a part.
