Hi S.,
It looks like you've already received some good advice but I wanted to tell you what has been working for my baby girl. I don't like to give medication unless absolutely necessary and I would definitely NOT use the whiskey! I use Camilia which is a homeopathic remedy by Boiron. (You can find it at Whole Foods or any health food store- my neighborhood Publix carries in the Greenwise section.) You give one dose and follow it up with additional doses every fifteen minutes. Because it is homeopathic, it is completely safe and there are no risks involved. When my little one seems to be in a lot of pain (poor thing has four teeth pushing through all at once!) I give her a dose every five minutes. After three doses she is back to her happy smiling self again. Give it a try. I hope your little bundle feels better soon!

No..Never ever give your baby whiskey! it doesn't numb the area and can be harmful to your childs development, and you don't want to harm your child. Its an old belief, the way to go is to get teething rings that you put in the freezer. The cold will have a numbing effect and greatly help with teething pain.

wet a washcloth and put it in the freezer. the cold will soothe the teething pain. Forget frozen bagels, they break apart and cause choking hazard. Whiskey? Save it for you and your hubby at the end of the day...Orajel is effective

I wouldn't.....there are too many complications associated with alcohol and it also causes dependence! Like your baby would come to NEED it every day or suffer withdrawal symptoms. It is also possible to overdo it with disastrous consequences. Not to mention the social stigma....someone might call HRS; it it that frowned upon in our society. Have you tried rubbing orajel on the baby's gums? Or giving her a little liquid motrin?

I would NOT do it, since you can achieve the same effect with Motrin. I know that it's an old remedy but also recognize that, in the old days, there was no Motrin for kids. When my kids were teething I would just dose with Motrin 1-3 times per day, especially before bed. It helped a lot and you don't have to worry about giving him alcohol.
