Hi D.,
My daughter will be 6 months on Friday. She too is teething and has been since she was 3 months. She is alway drooling and every toy, finger, book and anything she gets her hands on is in her mouth. I do not stop her because I think it makes her feel good. I also bought a teething ring which you keep in the fridge and it stays cold. It makes her feel more comfortable on the bad days.
Good luck!

Yup, she must be teething. I have a 19 month old boy who hasn't stopped drooling yet. He's been drooling since month 3 or 4. He enjoyed the cool teethers, and the baby gum brushes (he even enjoys chewing on them still).

Hi Debbie,
I would definitely say she's teething. Sometimes it doesn't bother them as much as other times so they won't cry, but she's most likely starting to get some teeth. Also, if she all of a sudden starts waking at night crying, it could be from the teething too. My son, who is now 1 1/2, used to wake up a couple times a night, some Tylenol worked great so he could sleep. His cheeks would get real flush and he'd have a runny nose too. All part of teething. It'll last a while, but their little teeth are sooo cute!
Good Luck!

My baby started drooling at 3 months and the doctor said that even though there were no teeth or signs of them, this was definitely all about teething! Basically we just put bibs on her (she was soaking her clothes considerably) Now that she is 6 months I am a bit fearful of the actual teething to come. Good luck!

We have almost the exact story. We have been married 7 years, and Morgan was born on 9/21/07. I think she is also teething. It doesn't seem to bother her all the time. Put some teething rings and pacifiers in the fridge, this way she has something cold if needed. She is also drooling up a storm and puts everything in her mouth. It is a phase and will get better over time. I think it is pretty normal. I just give a little more TLC and try to comfort her. Not really much you can do. She may not eat, and that is normal too. It was only a few days of this, but I am sure there is more to come. Take care and glad there is another Sept baby!! Alison

Whether teething or not, she will be drooling and eating her hand for some time so don't worry about it now :). If you think she is teething it is easy to tell, wash your hands well and press gently on her gums with your finger. If the gums are either red or swollen in certain spots then yes, she is teething. Also you can usually feel the ones that are cutting and see them too. My daughter didn't get her 1st tooth until a month before her first birthday and my brother had a full set of teeth at 6 months, they are all different and it really doesn't matter unless she is in a lot of pain then you can give a frozen teething ring or anbesol when it's really bad. Good luck!

She could be, but not definitely. Look in her mouth. You will see the two bottom teeth if they are there, you'll see 2 little white lines. They will be right under the gum. My son started the same thing your talking about at 4 mos and he didn't get his first tooth until 9 mos. My daughter, we could see the tooth below the gum line before x-mas and it didn't come through until Valentine's day. So my answer....look in her mouth, if you see nothing then their not ready yet.

Yae! Our daughters are about the exact same age, mine was born on Sept 26th. And yes, your babygirl is teething as is mine. She probably just didn't reach the climatic point of it which is the most painful time (usually as it is cutting through the gums). I have baby oragel and all kinds of teething rings but NOTHING works like the homeopathec teething tablets I have. Doctor's don't feel it works but aren't opposed to it, but I'm telling you I almost lost my mind trying to help my poor baby one night and after trying everything else- finally remembered about the tablets I had purchased in advance and they were a life saver!

Yes your daughter is teething... you can give her obaby oragel and also give here some infant tylonol but no t alot... You can also get her the teething rings you put in the refrigerator not in the freezer.. My daughter started teething around that age but they didn't come through until she was about 10 months old but the cold helps massage her gums.....C.

Your daughter is discovering her world with her mouth, and excessive drooling is normal, despite teething. Her first tooth could emerge anywhere from 4 months to one year, with average being 6 months. The best way to know if her little pearl is coming is to feel her bottom gum, and massaging the gum is very soothing to a teething baby.

yes, she is teething. My son is a few weeks older than yours and thats exactly what he was doinf right before a tooth can in. Look in her mouth and see if there are white spots on the bottom. IF you see white spots then a tooth is on the way.
You may want to by her a teething ringfor something to chew on.

definitely sounds like teething. my daughter ate constantly, just chose the harder foods then anything else (to try and cut through the gums...) if she doesn't seem like she's in pain, don't worry about it. i used one of those herbal medicines for teething (i bought it in pathmark...it's natural or nature's 'something' with baby pooh and tigger or eeyore on the bottle/box) that seemed to work really well with her.

she is teething allright! my daughter started at 4 months and drooled her heart out for the next 9 months! i had to change her clothes 2X/day as the chest area would become drenched with drool. then i discovered it was easier to just keep bibs on her all day long and change those as needed. i had a stack...and she did not even get her first tooth until 7 months. she also got a small rash on her cheek from the constant moisture (drool)on her face! as she started to actually get teeth, then i saw crying, fever and definite pain...so i treated her with simple baby anbesol or let her knaw on a frozen bagel. now i can look back and laugh but at the time i was exasperated by it. good luck!

Hi D.,
It does sound like she may be teething but it could also just be her drooling! I thought my son was teething at around three months,I was sure of it until the doctor said that until they are around 6-8 months they aren't able to suck up their drool. I know it sounds gross but they can't control their drooling and it may not be associted with teething. I have 7 1/2 month old twins and my daughter never drooled but my son constantly did and from a very early age. They both got their teeth 2 weeks ago and only a few days apart from eachother. So my point is... every baby is different and it may or may not be teething. Good luck!

Hey Debbie, my name is G. and i have a 9 mo old daughter and i just wanted to let you know that she is 100% teething and there is nothing to worry about. They will put anything and everything in their mouths so u just have to always keep a close eye on what is is.....my daughter being alittle older if i see her putting something in her mouth all i say is "can i have that" and ive taught her to hand it to me, haha thought it was very cute. But just give her plenty of frozen teething rings and what i found VERY helpful and still do with the teething is to give her the Munchkin Fresh Food Feeders....i put frozen fruit in it and she sucks on it like its a steak and they cant choke or anything with the netting they have...its great for the teething and she gets fresh fruit juice as it melts and she loves! Hope that works, and good luck!

Yup she's teething! She might not get any teeth coming through for a couple of months though. I always had an extra bib in the diaper bag, the kind with the plastic on the back is great so the clothes underneath don't get wet.
My kids hated the teething rings. Try cloth books. When they were up crying we used a little brandy on their gums before bed and ahh the silence was golden!
Good luck

Ohhhhh yeah. Lots of drooling is a classic teething sign. My daughter just turned 7 months today and she's been drooling since she turned about 4 1/2 months. And when the drooling started, she started putting everything in her mouth. She still does. Doc told me at her 6 mo. appt. that her gums were swollen and should have teeth in 2-3 weeks from that point. Nothing yet. I don't know what the standard time-frame is for teething, or if there is a standard time-frame, but my girl has been at it for 2 1/2 months now. Drool city!

Put your finger in her mouth and feel her gums--you may feel her teeth coming through. My son is 6 1/2 months old and he is always drooking and EVERYTHING goes in his mouth. Baby Orajel works if she is in pain. Good luck!

My best advice is to keep lots of bibs on hand. I am a mother of three children, Ryan (7), Julia (5) and Caitlyn (8 months). My two older children drooled until they were two, the baby right now is drooling through many bibs a day. She has two teeth and I know the others are just about ready. I have done Tylenol (with little relief), however I have found that Motrin works great. It lasts longer that Tylenol and is an anitinflamitory. Also, Hylands Homeopathic Teething Tablets have been a blessing. They work great!!! I am not sure if they relieve any pain or pressure, but they seem to help her relax!! As for the drooling I don't think anything helps with it. Cute bibs are your best bet for that!!!

Hi Debbie,
My daughter, now 10 months, did the same thing. She started at about 3 months with what we called severe drooling. We went through a ton of bibs each day! She too, constantly had her hands in her mouth. She wasn't fussy either. A few weeks ago out popped her two bottom teeth. We were shocked only because her two siblings were very late getting teeth. One at 16 months and the other at 13 months. So, your daughter could be teething. I hope this is helpful.

My daughter started teething when she was 4 months old. (She is now 21 YEARS old) There was a tremendous amount of drooling and then she got her first tooth around 5 months. I remember going through tons of clothes and bibs trying to keep her dry (she's my one and only - so I probably overdid the changes of clothes!)
Hope this helps,

I'm not a docter by a long shot! But with everything you are saying, It sounds as though she is, If you look in her mouth and her gums are swollen,. Sometimes it can take months for them to come in.Most of the time the bottom ones come in frist, not always. But most of the time, you'll find this to be true. Good luck and I hope this helps....R.

Definitely sounds like teething, D.. I had a lot of success with my two sons (many moons ago) by keeping a bag of minibagels in the freezer. The cool seemed to feel good and it gave them something to sink their gums into. They could only gnaw off little bits at a time, so I didn't have to worry about choking, but I would throw it away when it started to get too soft.
My name is M.. My husband and I live in Connecticut with our two sons, 16 and 10-years-old. I, too, love knitting; I have just started a log cabin blanket. And since we don't have tv I have to watch the Daily Show online, which allows me to combine my knitting hobby with computers.

Hi D. -
It definitely sounds like she is teething! My son (now almost 6) got most of his teeth in without doing a whole lot of crying. She may just not be in horrible pain. The drool and hands in her mouth are a sure sign. She may run a fever too and her poop may be green. All normal things! Putting things in her mouth are probably comforting on her gums. Here's a helpful hint that was passed on to me....When you look in her mouth and see little white "bumps" (for lack of a better description) on her gums, that's a tooth waiting to break thru....wet your finger with water and put a tiny bit of sugar on it and rub her gums - it may help break the tooth through sooner. Good Luck!
A.
