When my son first cut his teeth I asked my dr. this same question and she told me that I could wait until he was about 3 yrs old. They put this stuff on his teeth at the dr. to help protect them.
my daughter has cut to teeth and i was wandering when i should take her to the dentist she is now eight months old

Hey! I have a Sarah Nicole(4 1/2 yrs) too! I waited until my children were two years old before I took them to the dentist. When I took two of mine to the dentist last week I told them my 11 month old had eight teeth now and they told me he didn't need to be seen yet. So, I guess as long as you're not having any issues with her teeth I would wait. You could always call a pediatric dentist office and ask them too.
Ive always heard that they dont go to the dentist until they are about 4. Maybe 5 or 6. Aleast thats what I did when I was little and my dentist for my son said the same. It will be ok for the baby to ahve teeth and not go to the dentist. My son has 10 teeth and is 10 months old. You can go buy a gums and teeth toothbrush for her teeth. I have one it works great. Hope I helped atleast a little.

have you asked your pediatrician? I am curious too since my son is 10 months old and has some teeth himself, I was going to ask my pediatrician at his next appointment.
My dentist said when they can sit in the chair and open their mouth for them. Probably about 3 unless you notice some dental problems beforehand.
You dont have to start taking her to the dentist until she is 2yrs old, some dentist wont see her until she is 3yrs old.
i would say around her first birthday. thats when i took my son. and to help her teeth out try offering her a sippy cup and try to slowly wean the bottle if you havent already.
Now that our little cutie has teeth you do need to brush them 2x a day. As for going to the dentist, as long as you don't see any major discolouration like black or burnt orange then I'd hold off until she's 2. That's when I took my son to his 1st appointment and to make him not so nervous, I bought him a book about going to the dentist. He actually behaved! Well, good luck to you and yours!!
We have 5 children and all went to "see" the Dentist at two and a half yrs old. They just sat in the chair and the Dentist counted their teeth and talked to them. Then 6 months later (age 3) they had their teeth polished and just looked at. So far the oldest four love the Dentist, I think you just have to find the right one when the time comes and take everything slowly so your daughter feels comfortable. Now that she has some teeth though, make sure to wash them real good and get a baby toothbrush @ 1 yr of age, just remember to be gentle! Good Luck!
We were told w/our foster children that most dentist wouldn't see them until 3. But I've been hearing lately between 1 and 2. My daughter hasn't cut any teeth and she's 9 months. Her dr said to wait until she's about 15 months and if she doesn't have any still he will refer her to make sure nothing is wrong.
I was told that as soon as they cut teeth, it is a good idea to go to the dentist. I would call and set up an appt.
they won't want to see her until she's 3, but you can start "brushing" with a wet wascloth as soon as she has teeth and move to a toddler brush when she has about 4 teeth
My daughter is 2 years old and still has not seen a dentist. Doctors tell you to take them when the cut the first tooth but most dentists will not see them until they are 2 and some even wait until 3. I have found one dentist that will take her now but will not let me go back with her. While I understand their reasoning behind this, I do not feel any better about it because if something inappropriate was to happen, she is not old enough to tell me about it yet. So I wish you the best of luck with the dentist. Also something that you may not know about that we have all found to be a good medicine for teething is the Hylands Teething Tablets. They are homeopathic disks that disolve in babies mouth and will help with the pain and will even put them to sleep if they are irritable.
Hi B.. I dont think you should have to take her to the dentist. When she goes for her next set of shots or next doctors appt., informed the doctor that she has teeth pushing through and they will give her a flouride treatment. It will look like she has caramel on her teeth for about 24 hours, but what it will do is provide a coating on her teeth to protect them. Hope this helps. :)
Ok, I have actually asked a dentist this question and he told me that a child dose not need to go to the dentist until they get all of thier teeth in and that is around three years old. I hope this helps, I to have a daughter who is 9 months old and about to cut her 4th tooth.

B.,
I was a dental assist and orthodontist assistant, anyway just to let you know you can start taking her when she is about 1 yrs. old, it is a good thing to take them when they are small so they can get used to the dentist and the staff so they start pitching a fit on you when they get a little older. It is really your decision on when to take them. I would personally would take my child when she is about 2 or 3 yrs old. That way they will know what to expect when they go each visit. Also to let you know you can take them to your very own dentist or to a pediatric dentist they really work with children and the rooms and designed for kids, they usually have bright rooms and toys to make them feel comfortable and there are other kids there also. You can use a washcloth a keep their gums and teeth cleaned, that is what i do with my 7 month old every day. Hope this has been a big help. If you have anything else you need me to help you with you can email me at ____@____.com
Have a wonderful day!!

Hi B.,
I have found that in my area (eastern NC) most dentists will not see a child till they are at least 4 yrs old. Just use a soft baby toothbrush or washcloth to brush her teeth for now. You can always ask the pediatrician when you go for her well-check what he/she advises.
Good Luck to you!!

I have heard different answers but my dentist recommended that children accompany their parents at 2 years old so they are exposed and the dentist can guide them a bit on proper care. First cleaning at three (this isn't a real cleaning. They just brush and floss for them so they can get use to going). They won't get a real cleaning until adult teeth start coming in.
normally between 3 and 5yrs. but brush her teeth for her until she can do it herself. good luck.
From what my doctor has told us, kids generally don't see a dentist until they are 4 years old. When my daughter was an infant, I used an infant tooth brush (it fits over your finger). I would just recommend keeping up on the cleaning yourself. Now she's 2 1/2 and loves getting her teeth brushed!
Hi B.,
It is trully up to the dentist that you take her to. Some Pediatric dentists would like to start seeing them as early as two, but some wait until 3. My son went to a dentist on his 2nd birthday, this dentist office was awesome and was designed for children and the assisstants were great. Just use your mommy instincts and talk to your dentist.
