You might try putting petroleum jelly on his chin and cheeks immediately after cleaning and drying them. It will keep them protected for a bit longer from the moisture of the saliva. Hang in there, eventually all of his teeth will be in!
My son is 6 1/2 months old and has been drooling constantly for the past 2 1/2 months, he is cutting his first tooth on the bottom. He has a very bad rash on his cheeks and under his chin that the doctor said is from drooling and just to keep it clean with plain water, however, this is not working and he is learning how to scratch his chin. I have tried some aveeno anti itch cream, but nothing seems to be working, any ideas?

Hi S.,
Put vasaline on his chin, even the thinnest layer. It keeps the drool from sticking and causing a rash. My daughter at one time started having spots on her chin, and I was told by the doctor about the vaseline. It wont hurt! Good luck!

This might seem a bit weird, but if you rub some vasaline on his chin ( a thin layer ) it will coat it and helps keep the drool from staying on his chin area which causes the rash. Hope this helps, It worked for my son when he was little.
My son used to drool all the time. I just made sure that he wore a bib all the time. This was because his tear ducts were clogged.
I had the same problem with both of my children so I know how you feel. What worked for me was vasoline. I would wipe there face to make sure it was dry then put a thin layer around there mouth. It protects the skin like a repelant. Try it and let me know if it worked for you.
Hi S.!
Awwww....poor baby! I remember those days.
I used Vitamin E for almost everything like that. Just a very small amount goes a very long way, so the bottle lasts forever. Plus, I didn't need to worry about it getting in their eyes because I knew it wouldn't sting if it did.
It won't last forever....
