Hey what I did for my daughter was take a wash cloth and wet it, then put it in the freezer, she loved knawing on it and it seemed to help numb her up. Biter biscuts from beechnut ( can get them at the grocery store). and tylenol!!!! BUt I remember a few days that nothing helped, so I just put her in one of the baby sling/ carrier things, and she was attached to me and I went about my buisness!! teething is horrible for all parties involved!!!!! :( - hope this helps! oh I tried the baby ora gel but I only used that if it was real bad then gave her a passy. but sometimes she didn't like the feeling of being that numb.

a wet washcloth frozen in the freezer always seemed to work for my daughter. As for the rash it probaly is definently the teeth espcially if he is drooling alot, a friend of mine's baby drooled excessivly when he was teething and he ended up with a rash on his bottom because of all the excess drool he was swallowing, try putting cortaid on it then a layer of balmex over it, it cleared his up within two days

I have a 9m old and when his teeth are hurting him I usually give him a cracker or some cheerios. Snacks always keep them occupied and usually helps when they are chewing on something. I'm sure you've already tried the baby orajel, it just doesn't last as long as you want it to. Thats all I've got, good luck!

C.,
With my kids, both of them always when teething had such sore bottoms they would get so red and sore, there is really nothing to do for that other then changing them alot and using the ointment, coco butter always worked well on my kids cheeks (face).
I also would wet a washcloth, and then stick it in the freezer and then when they would become cranky I would give them the frozen wash cloth and they would love that. It must have felt good on those gums.

Good Luck

Hi C. and conner! I am the mother to three kids ages three and under so I know ALL about the teething thing and how annoying it can get some days. If it is only minnor irritation try using a teething ring or toy to let him knaw on and apply pressure to where it is hurting. Another trick is using a frozen washcloth, a frozen bagel or waffle, a frozen french fry, an ice cube inside one of the feeder nets, etc. to help him feel relief. If it is past the point of just needing a tiny bit of relief then I suggest using Tylonal or Hylands teething tablets or both. Personally I have never found orajel to be helpful and one of my children was allergic so I skip that all together. If you nurse sometimes just comfort nursing will help settle them enough to fall asleep. Good Luck and I hope they pop through soon!

Hi C., my son did the same thing when his teeth are coming in. He has little red cheeks and a little red bottom. All natural for most babies. I used the teething tablets and found them in either rite-aid or price chopper. I swear by the hylands ones and put some in a cup of juice bc its hard to get anything to stay under a little ones tongue! Plus they are all natural and i didnt have to use other products like the baby oragel. The other thing i did was pick up some of the baby yogurt they have and put some in a sippy cup with some milk and make like a little smoothie. It helped to clear up the red bottom and it tasted great and was cold on his teeth. He looks forward to it now, so im sure ive created a monster! haha. good luck!

when my son was teething he was so miserable poor little man. the best thing i used was the humphry balls which are not in most drug stores. i found that out the hard way. the only two places where i lived was one target in the new mall on erksin st by staret city. not all targets have them by the way...only one i found was that one, and a pharmacy on 9th steet and 5th ave downtown which is a bad neighborhood but they are open very late. those were the best. baby orejel is horrible in my opinion...my son hated it so i tried it to see why...it taste disgusting i couldn't blame him. try the humphry balls.

Rash on the cheeks and bottom? I'd call the pediatrician just to make sure something else other than teething isn't going on. If not, just continue with Tylenol when he's really cranky and/or needs to sleep and cold teethers otherwise. Wet washcloths, frozen in the freezer worked wonders for my daughter! Good luck, there is a light at the end of the tunnel, I promise!

Well I prefer Hylands Teething tablets which are all natural and are available at most grocery stores like Price Chopper and also available at CVS. Baby Oragel can also be helpful. The rash is natural and often occurs went teeth are coming in. The first two top teeth are the worst. The teething tablets are nice because they don't taste bad like oragel and they are 100% natural. You can give him 2 at a time up to 6 times a day.Best of all you just put them under his tongue and they dissolve almost immediatly. Just hang in there. It will get better once he gets the first two top ones in. My son just got 2 more top teeth and it didn't last nearly as long, although he did cry from time to time and he has a rash on his face. Also, I found that my son likes to suck on pieces of ice cubes when he is teehing. (not to big and not unsupervised)

My 7 month old has his 2 bottom front teeth, and I believe he's working on some top ones because I feel like my sweet little baby has been replaced with Satan-baby!! Thanks to everyone who talked about the diaper rash, I didn't realize that was associated with the teething but he has one too. Although my son HATES having orajel put on his gums, he calms down in (literally) like 10 seconds after I give it to him. I haven't tried the frozen washcloth but I sure will after reading everyone's recommendations.

I've also noticed that more naps help him to deal with life a little better...it seems to help his mood during this tough time.
