My daughter is now 13 months old and she has only gotten 2 teeth. I keep asking her ped. and she keeps telling me it is ok that she hasn't gotten any more. She eats real food and has no trouble with it. I am just concerned that she has only 2 teeth. I have friends that their children have or had a mouthful of teeth by this age and I am just concerned. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

Don't worry! This just means she will have healthier teeth when they do come in. My neice didn't get any teeth until after she was a year old and her dad (my brother) was the same way. He never had a cavity until he was in his teens. All 3 of my girls had at least 2 teeth by the time they were 9 months old. 2 of them were under 6 months but that is average.
Save you worries girl. you'll need them later.lol

J.,
The older your child is when teeth come in, the later she will lose them; hence, the stonger her teeth will be. Don't worry... my daughter was 2 years old before she had all of her baby teeth.

Hi J.
I know just how you feel my son is 19 months old and he has only 4 teeth. The dentist said that it is fine because his teeth are there just taking there time to come out and there teeth will be much stronger then children who got theres early.

My baby girl is also 13 months and only has two teeth. Actually her third is just about to pop out. I was a little concerned about 6 months ago when she had none. My husband was actually concerned that she would never have teeth! But I asked my doctor and got lots of advice (mostly unwanted) from other people, and all of them said that it's no big deal. And actually the longer it takes for them to come in, the stronger and healthier the teeth are. AND, she looks like my little baby (not a big kid) longer!

My daughter didn't start cutting teeth until she was 14 months. I took her to a pediatric dentist, and he said that all her tooth buds were there, so not to worry about it. He also told me that, in general, the later they start getting teeth, the fewer dental problems they have later in life.

My daughter only had 4 by this age and I was concerned as well....until my mother-in-law showed me her daddy's baby book... Turns out that he didn't get his 1st tooth until he was 1 and but 16 months only had 3... I also spoke to my aunt, who happens to be a dentist and she says that she's be happy to do x-rays to be sure the teeth are in there but the truth is the later the better! Less chance of early tooth decay since tooth brushing habits are hard to start right now....as long as eating isn't an issue listen to your doctor. It took her longer than most but by 2 1/2 she had a beautiful mouthful. If youare super concerned and just want to ease your own mind make an appt with a dentist.
Good luck!

Hope this helps:

My daughter is 15 months and only has her two bottom teeth. The goods new is just a few days ago I started seeing very little signs of a few on top. I was also concerned, but was told not to worry.
My first daughter (now three), had a full set at 1 year old.

Hope you start seeing pearly whites soon!!!! (I wouldn't worry!!)

Please don't worry. Your ped is right. Every child is different. For instance, my daughter has something similar going on. She's LOST most of her front teeth all at once and now has one big tooth right up front! At first, I was concerned, but my mind was set as ease after I talked to her dentist and her pediatrician. They both told me not to worry. And, sure enough, the new teeth are starting to peek through, nice and healthy. (She also didn't walk until 14 months! Like I said, every child is different.)

My daughter didn't even cut her first tooth until she was 13 months. She has the healthiest teeth in my family. Her dentist said to be thankful that she got them later, because that usually will mean that they are healthy.

Hope this helps.

Well let me say that I have twins and have always been told that they will grow a little slower. And at one I wanna say they only had maybe four teeth. Give it just a little longer and they will start coming in everywhere. My girls are not 17 months yet and now they have 10-11 teeth each. Just hang in there. And good luck when the back molars come in.

Don't worry. My 15 month old only has 4 teeth. She got her first 2 at 11 months, and 2 more around 13 months. I'm wondering if she's going to get some more soon, because the "buckets of drool" have started up again.

My ped. told me her daughter didn't have ANY teeth until 15 months. Count your blessings that you will have a kiddo who understands more of what you are saying as she teeths.
