I may have a silly question but my 9 year old daughter has one tooth on the bottom that is really loose, as if it is going to fall out. I don't remember loosing teeth at that age so I am wondering if I need to get her into a dentist or is this supposed to happen?????
Thank you to all who responded. I assume it's a baby tooth so we'll pull it out when it's ready and see how it goes. But I do feel better knowing others have been through this too!

Well, my 8 year old is still losing teeth. She started losing them at about 4 years.Has she already lost this one??? Is it a perment tooth???? They loose teeth until about 10 or 11 years old. If it is a perment tooth, I would take her in ASAP. Good Luck.

Kids lose their teeth through age 12 or so. I'm sure it's a baby tooth!

My daughter is 4 1/2 and when her bottom teeth got loose I really freaked out. Every child is different and sometimes they loose them early (which we think is the case with my kid) or the loose them later (like you) Here's what her dentist said:
Most kids start getting loose teeth anytime after the ages of 5-7. Usually the first teeth to become loose are the lower two teeth followed by the top two teeth.
I wouldn't be worried if I was you. She's at an appropriate age to be loosing teeth.
Just make sure you save them for the tooth fairy!

I'd say that's perfectly normal. I have a 10-yr-old cousin who hasn't lost all his baby teeth yet. On the flip side, I myself lost all of mine by the time I was 7...but that's rare, I'm told.
I would say don't freak out about it as long as it's a baby tooth. They have to come out sometime to allow for the adult teeth to come in.

Kids are loosing teeth up until there pre-teen age to early teens, but those are usually the back. I don't think you have anything thing to worry about. My daughter who is 10 just lost one of her bottom teeth, it hadn't come out yet and it was time. THe adult teeth are just pushing through, that's what make the baby tooth loose. If it's not a baby tooth, then I'd be concerned.

Hi,
My daughter starting losing her teeth at age 5 so if this is her first tooth she's lost I'm surprised :) I don't see any reason to take her to the dentist for it unless it's a permanant tooth. If she hasn't been to the dentist in a while then take her for a cleaning & you can ask ?'s. We go in every 6 months for our family.

Which tooth is it on the bottom?? This is probably a baby tooth that is supposed to come out. Kids, on average start to lose the lower anterior teeth between 7-8 yo, but every child is different and has their own schedule. Does she have regular dental care?? She needs to be seen by her dentist every 6 months, and they will be sure to let you know if everything is on track. I am a dentist so if you have questions let me know!
