Please help.
My sons teeth are turning brown. I have a strong feeling it is from his vitamins which contain iron (Enfamil Poly-vi-sol). At least that is what his doctor says. I brush his teeth twice a day (which my son makes as difficult as possible) and even took a q-tip with peroxide and tryed to scrub them. That didn't work. I guess I am more embarresed about it more than anything else. people must think i dont brush his teeth! His doc. said i dont need to see the dentsit because they are not rotting but i would love my son to have clean teeth. has anyone else experienced this? should I take him of the iron? Will this stick around till his baby teeth come out? I dont know what to do.

What can I do next?

hi C., i would definitely see a pediatric dentist, they're supposed to by age 1 anyway. my kids both used that vitamin, no stains. also, im pretty sure that too much flouride can cause spotting of the teeth, is there flouride in your water supply? what about the toothpaste you use? i would use a natural flouride-free toothpaste for babies, i use weleda or melaleuca. i am also questioning your pediatricians judgement, maybe consider a second opinion? good luck, D.

hi C., i was giving that same Enfamil Poly-vi-sol to my baby before she had teeth, and when she spit it out or something her neck or face would stain for DAYS i couldn't wash it off, so i can imagine teeth. but i would see dentist, in case its something else, u don't want to find out later it was some other problem that you didn't take care of ontime.

My son who is five now had the same problem also. We saw a dentist and they said that it is a defect in his enamel. Unfortunatly it will be that way untill his baby teeth fall out but his teeth are not rotten. I brush his teeth twice a day also but there is nothing that you can do to make it go away.
