Does anyone know of a good dermatologist in Long Beach/Lakewood/Los Alamitos area for teens? My 15 year old boy is having a bad time with pimples around his upper lip and nose area. Says he does his best to keep clean, and is a daily swimmer. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

A good all natural cleanser and an oil free moisturizer would help him. The chemicals in the pool are what is causing that he needs something to detox the chemicals from his skin. Arbonne has products that can help with this they also have products especially for acne but his sounds like it is from the water. Also a good mask for the face will help too. If you would like more info please PM me.

The best thing would be to use Witch Hazel. Tell him to soak a cotton ball in it and put it on his face after he gets out of the pool. I am 21 and have used it since high school. I swear by the stuff!

Has he ever tried Noxema? It saved my brother's face when he was a teenager. (He wasn't a swimmer, but he had baaad acne...) My grandma had him use noxema, and his skin cleared right up. (NOT noxema soap... it comes in a blue jar-type bottle. He spreads it on, let it sit for a minute to open his pores, then washes off.)

You can take him to your family doctor too, one of mine was having this issue, and we used proactive, and it helped, but did not take care of it all and he gave her a topical antibiotic and benziol peroxode combo that hassles helped a lot. You also might see if he has an allergy to toothpaste since it is all near his mouth, and if he is shaving, it could be related.
