I was going to use a normal sunscreen on my 2 year old's face this summer but recently saw commercial for a tear free one and am wondering if it would be a good buy. Do you think it's necessary?

What can I do next?

I have never used a tear-free sunscreen on my children. I simply use the spray type. I spray it into my hands and just go crazy (gently though) rubbing it all over their faces. They instinctively close their eyes and mouths. Don't know if this is going to help you at all, but I have never had any of my three complain or cry about having it in their eyes. :)

Im not sure about that kind. However I love the chapstick kind. It is sold in a stick that you rub on. CVS has a cheaper generic brand. My son won't let me use anything else.

I've never used it or needed to. We all use the same stuff and my kids are 5 and 2. It's a good way for them to make more money! Rub some facial sunscreen on your fingers and gently massage the face leaving no excess. The sticks that are like big chapsticks are great too!

Yes, the one from Whole Foods is good. Also spray on may save fights.

Why do you think shampoos and sunscreens might be 'tear-free'? It is chemicals that they put in them to numb the eye so that your child doesn't 'cry'. Not good. This can cause irritation and even blindness as you need to rinse the eyes if something gets in them such as sunscreen or shampoo.

How about starting with something that doesn't have the harsh chemicals and irritants to start with:o) That is why I became a Sensaria Natural Bodycare representative - great products that not only work but are much safer than most of the products offered out there and cost effective for the whole family to use.

If you would like more information AND a discount on a sunscreen that does not smell like a sunscreen and you can rub it around the eyes even and it works, contact me:o)

I didn't know it existed. Just be sure to rub it in on their face. And yes, the stick works well.

Yes. We use Banana Boat Tear Free SPF 50, it comes in lotion and a spray. I put it in my hands and apply to his face, the regular stuff definitely burns if it they sweat or get wet and it runs and gets in their eyes..

I suggest going chemical free, especially on children. Many of the chemicals in most suncreens (and most cosmetics) are hormone disruptors and carcinogens. There are many safe sunscreens out there at stores like Whole Foods and Sprouts. California Baby is great. Check out http://www.ewg.org/skindeep for safety levels on various products.

I have not used it. We use the spray on everything expect hands and faces. I don't do hands at all (for fear of them rubbing their eyes), and I use a stick for their faces. I think the stick works great, and it is definitely faster than rubbing lotion on my hands and then their faces. Much more accurate, too.

My kids are 2 and almost 5.

I've always used tear free with my kids. They're 2.5 mow and I bought it again this year mainly because one sweats a lot. I wouldn't want his eyes to burn.

Yes- primarily because they will rub the normal stuff in their eyes and it causes more trouble than its worth!! =D

I have used several different brands, but haven't specifically bought a tear-free version. Actually didn't know they existed until reading your post! I am very careful about applying it around the face though because it did get near my son's eyes once when we went for a walk one morning and we literally had to come home and put him in the bathtub. His eyes became swollen, teary and red instantly. So if you think your child is hypersensitive to it, the tear free version might be a good idea. Hope this helps!
