I am seeking advice on teaching 4 & 5 year olds to wipe themselves good on the potty. They try real hard, but end up making a mess when trying to clean themselves when they poop. Any tricks out there...I want to get this down good before they start to kindergarten!!
We are currently working on the same thing at our house. First my son wipes with toilet paper and then those KanDoo wipes (big kid wipes from Pampers...purple/green package with frog on it). These seem to help a lot. I tell him to be sure to wipe until he doesn't see the yucky anymore. The cartoon frog on the package is pictured wiping his booty, so that helps with the technique also. Sounds silly, but what about getting him a mirror to check himself? This is a little personal, but I remember that working great for me when I was a kid. Got it clean every time:)
We're having some of the same issues. We've been working with ours on folding the tissue instead of wadding which has helped some. We also have the cottonelle wet wipes handy and he uses lots of those. Right now I'm trying to let him do it himself and then let us check. Not really a fun job, but I'd rather he got clean!
My 4 year old son refuses to even give it a try! He won't even let anybody wipe him except for me. He says I'm the softest. LOL. I suppose he has until Kindergarten to learn...
