I agree that I think gift cards are enough. We also have several teacher friends and this is what they like, too. We've purchased a Target gift card each for our daughter's teachers and after school care director.
Do you do them? If so, what do you give? If you're a teacher, what do you like to get?
We got each of my kids teachers a $15 gift certificate to Texas Roadhouse.
My daughter still wants to give them the jar with the dry ingredients to make cookies. I know those are cute, but are they used? Do teachers get enough baked good stuff at Christmas time?
I don't mind to stop at the $15 limit, but my daughter wants to do something homemade too...
We have a 3rd grader, 1st grader, and one in pre-k (2 teachers).
Thanks, ladies. We'll stick with the gift cards, and maybe add in some class room supplies. I've done that before too.
I would have liked to do Target gift cards, but my mom is promoting a local project to help soldiers and Texas Roadhouse gave 10% of all gift cards purchased within a time period to the project! So it was good to buy from them :).
So we'll add some containers of Lysol wipes and tissues and call it good! Thanks!

If your daughter REALLY wants to do a handmade item as well, I would let her decorate a coffee can or other can/tin/vase (paint it or wrap it in construction paper that she decorates) and stuff it with dry-erase markers in various colors/sizes. Big bow and clear plastic wrap, with the gift card stuck on a stick in the cup with the markers, like flowers in a vase.
My son is in VPK. He has 2 teachers. I got them a Target gift card for $25.00 each... My friends that "are" teachers ONLY want gift cards.. None of them like getting any other gifts because they don't use any of it :) I've always done gift cards because of what my teacher friends telling me...
Maybe your daughter could make a Christmas card or picture for her teacher instead of the baking stuff. That's what my 1st grader will be doing this year, along with a gift card of course. I think the dry cookie ingredients in the jar is a great idea but in today's world I think there are many people that think twice about eating the homemade goodies - just my opinion though!
I think it is sweet your daughter wants to add the jar of mix.. What could it hurt to add it on?.. Let the teacher know your daughter insisted.. The teacher will love it. Good for you for supporting a good cause too.
The gift cards are enough. My best friend's a teacher and gets inundated with treats. She's also a personal trainer and needless to say, all of the treats don't get eaten or appreciated. Every January we go shopping to spend her gift cards ... they're by far her favorite! Dollar amount doesn't matter, either.
We're giving $15 gift cards to Target this year.
I usually give Target gift cards ($30) and a candle or scentsy to each teacher.
Other ideas:
Homemade peppermint bark or cookies
Something made by the kids, like a picture
A picture frame
A compilation of your favorite recipes placed in a nice book/binder (think hobby lobby)
Good luck!
