I have to agree withe veryone else, awesome idea. I am sure instead of another mug, candle, ect, like you said, this gift would be much more meaningful and would touch her heart.
I want to get a Christmas gift for my children's teacher. I'm sure she is inundated with mugs, soaps, lotions, and candles this time of year. I was thinking about making a donation to an autism charity, on her behalf. I know she has a passion for working with autistic children. (And she has an autism ribbon on her car.) :)
Do you think that is an appropriate gift/gesture?
Hooray! Thanks for all the positive feedback. I'm going to make a donation in her name. Happy Holidays everyone!!!
So, just to let everyone know...I gave her a card I wrote a little message in about how much I appreciate her. And I ended up donating to a Cancer Prevention Charity b/c someone in her family was recently diagnosed with cancer. She was very touched and very thankful. :)

That is a wonderful idea! It's a great idea to share with people too!
i think thats an awesome idea :)
I think that would be really sweet (and thoughtful!)
That's a terrific idea. I'm a teacher, and I would love a gift like that!
That is a very nice gift.
Here are some other suggestions for teachers in your future....
As a teacher, I can tell you all... you get way to many mugs and lotions in your teaching career...to many to use!
The past two years, I've been blessed with groups of parents who pool together and go to my favorite spa or place where I get my hair cut and buy a gift certificate. I still get the occaisional Dunkin Donuts card that I give to my children since I don't can't eat there.
Another very thoughtful gift was a donation in my name to the heiffer project. We hatch out eggs each spring in my classroom and one year a family donated a flock of chicks to a needy family in a 3rd world country. I thought that was FANTASTIC!!!
You go girl that is the best idea i ever heard. I work at a children's shelter and somtimes autistic childern come in.
I see the people that work with them the patience and care they have with the kids my hat is off to them
