I was wondering if any moms out there tanned in a tanning bed while they where pregnant. My friend did when she was and she would wrap a towel around her belly. We are trying to get pregnant and if we do than I will be pregnant during the summer and I HATE being white. (It makes me feel really ugly) Just kind of wondering on yalls opinion. Thanks!!!

What can I do next?

Hi R.,

I have a friend who tanned naked while she was pregnant and after she had the baby she said her stomach looked like a big bull's eye. I bet that was quite a sight.

But, I agree with the other posts - you'll look great either way when you're pregnant!

Good luck with trying!

Hi R.. Well, when I was pregnant with my son, I was living in Portland, OR and was pregnant during the winter...so I didn't have the option of tanning outside, and I was all bundled up, so it didn't really matter if I was tan or not, because no one could see me! :) So, I guess it's up to you and whatever your OBGYN says. But, I wanted to let you know that I started using Arbonne's "Made In the Shade" Self Tanner, SPF 15 last summer, and LOVE IT! I don't really like to tan period, because number one I get too hot, and number two I had cancer 10 years ago, so I don't really want to tempt fate again... ;) But, i feel your pain of not feeling so pretty when you're white...I feel the same way. So, I've tried every kind of self-tanner, mystic tan, etc. under the sun. (ha, ha, ha.) And, this is the only one I've ever found that really works, and looks absolutely wonderful. I am so impressed with it! If you'd like to try some, just let me know. You can also check it out on my website for more info: www.mandyolsen.myarbonne.com. Enjoy!

My baby was born at the end of May so I was in my 2nd and 3rd trimesters during the spring and summer. I was too scared to "fake" tan while pregnant because its highly discouraged. But I did lay out by the pool. I'd just cover my belly with a towel. You dont want to tan your belly because you'll increase your chances of getting stretch marks.
I also used Jergens tanning lotion. My fair complected friend who was also pregnant used the Mystic Tan. Did you know you can buy the Mystic Tan spray from Ebay? Its the same spray they use in the machine. Just have someone spray it on you. :)

I honestly would not take the risk of tanning. You don't want to have the chance of anything happening to your baby that you would then question for the rest of your life. I did have one dr warned me against tanning beds period if I ever wanted to get pregnant. The exposure you get can cause issues with your reproductive system.

Being white for one summer, or just using a good tanning cream is not the end of the world. If you really want a baby, you will protect that little one from anything.

Nope, I wouldn't do it either. I swam when I was pregnant and laid out a bit, but I wouldn't "fake-and-bake".
