Arbonne has an awesome skincare line that helps with sun spots. I'm only 22 and I use the set everyday. I tell everyone that I'm on the "preventative" route... lol. I was a lifeguard in college, and I had fine lines and sunspots from that, and using an anti-aging skin care line made ALL the difference!

Despite what some of the others are saying...it is a fungus and it is from the tanning bed. I had it when I was in college and they don't really have a lot to offer you for it. This is not the brown liver spots that people get from the sun...this is white circle type spots that won't tan and they itch like crazy. Don't buy the products that people have mentioned for sun/liver spots...it is not the same thing. My doctor told me to get Selsum blue shampoo and rub a thin coat over the area and let it dry. I would do it and then put on an old t-shirt for awhile. Leave it on as long as you can. It doesn't smell very nice...but it will help. Then rinse it off in the shower. You need to do it as often as you can for results. I would also purchase some tea tree oil (whole foods or even Wallgreens ) and apply it to the areas after the shower. Good luck and feel free to contact me if you have questions. I won't lecture you about the tanning bed...but you will need to stop tanning to clear this up. After they told me it was a fungus from the beds..Eeek! I stopped for good.

put dandruff shampoo on your arm or wherever you have the white spots when you sleep. Selsum Blue (I think that is how you spell it) it worked. I don't tan anymore, but when I was the owner of the salon gave me that advice.

Good Luck.

I am totally anti-tanning bed. When I was in college, I used to tan frequently. It was about the only time a day I could nap away from the world. I loved it, but it made me allergic to the sun. I had what you are describing and it wasn't a fungus. I had to slowly reintroduce sunlight because the lamps from the bed had caused me to not be able to handle sunlight. This does not happen to everyone, but I have a normally fair complexion.

I was in Coasta Rica when the doctor down there told me what it was. They had to give me a prescription and I had to stay out of the sun while on vacation. Sorry I can't tell you what the script was.

It took me 2 years to get the spots to not show up. I now use a self tanner and spf 70. Yes I said 70... it's called Ozone for a reason. I can stay out in the sun for a whole day, never reapply, and never get burned. LOVE IT!!!!

Are you sure it's a fungus? I have sun spots from tanning. Those don't really go away, but I've never really contacted a dermatologist about them before.

Here's some info:

WHAT ARE AGE, SUN OR LIVER SPOTS? They are light or dark brown spots on the tops of the hands, face, shoulders, chin, upper chest, and any other areas that are or have been chronically exposed to the sun. As we age, chronic sun exposure alters the function of the cells in the skin. The melanocytes (melano = "color," cyte = "cell") that arise from the basal layer of the epidermis produce the color-bearing pigment called melanin. As the production of melanin becomes irregular and sporadic, pigment clumps together, causing brown spots that give the skin a mottled or blotchy appearance. To appreciate the harmful effects of the sun, simply compare the smooth, unblemished skin on the breasts and buttocks or other areas of the body that are always covered by clothing to the irregularly pigmented skin in sun-exposed areas. Even if you had a facelift, these spots remain making you appear a lot older. These spots are not removed with your facelift! Pulsed Light can reverse years—even decades— of sun damage

Is it Sun Spots. I had a girlfriend in HS who had the same problem with tanning. Her DR gave her something that cleared it up!! I would have thought your DR would be able to clear it. That is scary to get fungus from a Tanning Bed!! Who would have thought you could....

My daughter had that last year, just on one arm, they said it was a skin fungus, and gave her Ketoconazole shampoo, and said it would take a year to go away. But they did fade with the shampoo, and she doesn't have them this year!!
