My hair stylist just bought one for his shop. He said it was pricey, but a good decision. But I'm sorry I don't know what brand he purchased. Check them out on Consumer Reports - they always have the best information on products.
We have a water heater that is 15 years old, so it is on its last leg and we would like to replace that water heater with a gas tankless water heater.
Does anyone have experience with purchasing a tankless water heater? And, if so, would you recommend any particular brand over another?
I know I need a particular model/size to manage the capacity appropriate for our house; but I am completely confused by which brand has the best product.
Whatever insights you can share would be great!! Thanks - J.
Thanks to everyone's input, I did a little research and decided to get the Takagi T-K3 water heater. Our plumber was awesome -- installed a larger gas line so that there would be enough gas to heat the water. Everything is now installed and working. Yesterday, just for fun, I ran a wash, and washed dishes while my husband was taking a shower -- and we had hot water all around!! I am very excited about our decision to go with the tankless, and now we have more space in our back room. Thanks for all the great input! J.

we looked into having one installed for our home but since it's a small place and the cost was to much for us becasue you have to change the type of piping and size of some piping and pay for the heater too for us it was going to cost over 3000 and since were not staying in the home for to much longer we opted to stick with the normal bulk water heater. also you can call a few water heater places and ask them if they do free estimates and get quotes that way
Hello J.,
I have a tankless water heater, I loved it at first but before you run out and buy one read all of the information on any brand that you get. I live on well water, so sediment affects the water heater, and makes the water go hot and cold. Also, the water pressure can do the same thing. One more thing, if you get one, see how long it takes for the water to heat up. Sometimes I have to wait 2 to 3 minutes for the water to get hot. Which when you are paying for every drop, that can be a lot of money running down the drain. Just read up on each brand, and find out about boosters. I don't think that they are called that, but they are smaller units that can be installed right under the sink or shower or where ever you want them. Hope this helps....Chris:-)
We have a Paloma that we love; instant hot water. It was recommended to us by our family friend who was head of the plumber's union.
Hi. My husband works for Sears and he does a lot of work on water heaters and such. I will ask him and let you know what he says.

Hi. My husband said that the best one out there is a Rinnai. They are a little pricey but well worth it. You will have to have a plumber install it. The size deoends on what you want it to do. If you want to be able to have the washer, dishwasher, and shower going then you will want the big one and so on and so forth. You can also check out their website...rinnaie.us. If you have anymore questions, just let me know. My husband can get all sorts of info and facts about things.
