Hello! I'm wondering if I need to go to special chiro or do most of them know how to adjust a 10 month old? What should I expect when I go?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for all your insights! And don't worry negative nelly's I've thought about this, I've had friends do it, I've read about it, and I fell this will help my son and his digestion problems that we can't seem to figure out what's wrong. I have been to three different ped's and none of them can figure out what's wrong. We've switched formula's, poop labs, taken him off solids. I'm also now doing more natural and chemical free ways of living.

I have been in the chiropractic industry for about 11 years and it's my experience that most chiros are comfortable adjusting babies. Certainly ask the doc his/her experience when you go in. Babies are adjusted much differently than adults. It's very gentle and safe. I've had both of my boys adjusted since the day they were born - literally! You're always welcome to call Discover Chiropractic at ###-###-#### as I know they are superior in handling little ones! Take care.

Edit: chiropractic school is as long as medical school, they just spend more time practicing then interning. And you need a bachelors degree first. I trust a chiropractor with my spine more than an MD, because MDs aren't trained in chiropractic and spend more time learning about other things, where chiros learn about just what they practice. They ARE doctors! Medical mistakes involving drugs, surgeries, etc are far more likely to cause harm than a gentle adjustment.

The tool is called an activator. Sometimes they use it, other times just gentle pressure with their hands/fingers. All of the chiros I know work on kids, but it does help to find one who does it regularly. You can look at the icpa website, or just ask around to see if they do it. I've found that docs who are also parents themselves are most comfortable and understanding.

My babies and I have been adjusted our whole lives. Less illness, faster recoveries, better health and wellness all around. And it starts early! The birth process is pretty traumatic, and growing and adjusting to life is not easy either. Add in head bumps, falling, and other childhood events, why not take them? Keeps ahead of the headaches and pains adults can experience later after letting all of these events take their toll on our bodies and nervous systems. Good for you!

My youngest was adjusted for the first time when he was 9 days old. The tool the chiropractor can use for a gentler I believe is called a manipulator or something. My chiropractor would place his finger on the spot that needed adjustment and then place the tool on his finger and do the adjustment. At 10 months he/she should be able to do a gentle adjustment with their fingers as well. Any chiropractor I've know have begun adjustments immediately following the birth of their own children.

Taking our children to the chiropractor for regular adjustments is one of the best things we've ever done!

Hi Megan--
J. again.
It was a chiropractor that I took my son to who healed him and who I learned everything I've been teaching you about from. I did some research for you and a found a chiropractor in your area that does all the same treatment as the one here that I used--allergy testing and treatment, allergy elimination, neuro-emotional technique, as well as traditional chiropractor. I know from experience that you need a chiro that does all this, not just traditional chiropractic.

This is the link to his website. I spoke with his receptionist to make sure they knew what they were doing in relation to a case like yours. If you call, tell her that the woman from Colorado told you to call so she knows who you are. Oh, and for the woman below who is unsure of chiropractor, their training is actually as rigorous as a medical doctor with almost all the same classes. In the state of Colorado a chiropractor is licensed to do everything an MD does except prescribe pharmaceuticals (which most chiros don't believe in anyway).
Hope your little man is continuing to feel better. I'm still waiting for the formula recipe for you.
J.

Ask the chiropractor before you go. Some of them do not feel comfortable adjusting under a certain age. Some specialize in infant chiropractics. When my babies were newbies I went to a Chiropractor specialized in infants and he would lay them on the floor on their blanket and gently adjust them. Just don't get trapped into the you must come back so many times....some chiropractors do this, and some don't. Watch your son and once you see improvement then you don't need to go back. Also I would suggest, as with shots, taking some tylenol. Sometimes with the bone that is out the muscle is used to it and so it might hurt when it is put into place.

I took my 6 month old to a chiropractor who specialized in women and children, I just felt better about it as I was a nervous nelly. I am now a believer and completely, 100% certain that this solved my sons problems. I know that at first we had to come twice a week, then once a week, and so on. We got to the point where he only needed to come once a month if that. She did some things with him lying on me and then did some things with him hanging upside down which I thought was weird but once she explained it and I saw for myself I was absolutely amazed. Good luck and I know you wont be disappointed.

It says you're in Orem. I know a fantastic chiropractor there. His name is Ben Higbee and his practice is calles Lonestar Chiropractic. He is excellent with kids (very gentle) and also with pregnant women. He has 6 kids of his own, and he is the chiropractor for all the BYU sports teams. I've been going to him for almost 3 years. i've referred many people to him, and they all like what he does. Send me a message is you want any more info.

I think it's great that you are searching alternative avenues to help your child. Might I suggest an Upper Cervical Specialist as opposed to a Chiropractor. They have a little bit different technique you might find appealing for a young child. I'm pregnant with my second child now, and I plan on having her evaluated and adjusted if necessary as early as three weeks. Good Luck
