Hi moms, i am 30 weeks pg and i shifted my pubic bone. I am in a great deal of pain. I went and saw my doc and he gave me lortab to take for a week. I know that it is a class c during pg. I know he wouldn't put my baby at risk. I guess i was just wondering if anyone has taken it also. I need reassurance.

Have you tried going to the chiropractor? Don't know if it helps for that specific pain but I went rather frequently my last 2 pregnancies and it helped a lot!

I would not take the pill. A class "c" means that the risks to your baby are about 50/50 or in other words that the benefits are equal to the risks. A class "a" would be the safest and a class "e" the most dangerous. Personally, I wouldn't even take something that was a class "b". Taking a class "c", to the best of my knowledge, would be like like laoding your 6 shot revolver with 3 bullets and then hoping for the best.
Not worth it.

Have you talked to a chiro. I'm wondering if they can help, I understand there is a baby in the way but sometimes they can manuver things in an upright position, that might help with the pain. Good Luck! J.

Hi S.,
I am a Physical Therapist, please go see an orthopedic physical therapist ASAP to reduce your pain and help reposition your pubic symphysis safely. If you opt for a chiroprator, it may be too forceful at this fragile time.

I had the same thing happen to me when I was pg the first time. My Doc sent me to physical therapist and he was able to put it back in place and show me how to keep it in place. I didn't need any med's. I can give you his name if you would like it? Just send me an email if you are in the Reno/Sparks area.

I don't know about that pill, but I have had my pelvic bone out while pregnant both times!! I suggest a chiropractor. They will be careful with you and place those hips where they need to be.

Hi S.,
I had a seperated pelvis during the last trimester of my second pregnancy. My OB/GYN gave me vicoden to take when the pain was too bad. HE reassured me that the baby would be fine and would not be born addicted to pain meds. Everything was fine and I have a very healthy 19 month old girl. Lortab is just about the same thing as vicoden so as long as you aren't taking too much, you and baby should be just fine. I hope you feel better soon.

I wouldn't take it. A chiropractor would do wonders for you and it is drug free. If you don't have one, ask for some recommendations in your area.

Congrats on your pregnancy!

HI there S.,
I don't know about the Lortab, but I wanted to suggest Chiropractic. There are chiropracters who specialize in PG chirpractic. I saw a chiropractor when I was pg and had an EXCRUCIATING pubic symphisis (sp?). I was pain-free for the last 2 months of my pregnancy-thank God!
Painful walking, sitting, rolling over in bed are all signs of pubic symphisis. If you think you have it, check out plus-sizepregnancy.com I'm not plus size, but this was the only site I found that had any info on what I was dealing with and tips to treating it.
Some OBs think you just have to deal with it, but you don't! Chiropractic works!

Hi S.,drugs can fall into category C because there is medium level of risk based on animal studies and there are no adequate/well controlled studies in pregnant women or because no animal studies have been conducted. In general sometimes the provider feels more comfortable to give this type of meds later in pregnancy as the risks of adverse effects on fetus is greatest in the 1st 12 weeks of gestation when fetus major organs are developing.I am glad to see you trust your OB and follow his recommendation because he will never put you or your baby at any kind of risk.good luck, hope your pain is gone by the time you read this.
