I was just wondering if any of you have gone through this. My 14 1/2 month old daughter doesn't seem to want to even try table foods. She did in the beginning but won't any more. She'll eat things like cereal, crackers, fries - and will also eat peanut butter and grilled cheese(without butter of course) sandwiches. However, anything else she won't even try, just hides her face and grins. I have heard of others who have done this and they eventually grow out of it, sometimes not even until 2 - 3 years old. Just wondering if anyone has had any experience in this and things that their child did take.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks so much everyone! That's what I figured but I just wanted to heart other peoples experiences with it.

Don't worry, she'll grow out of it too. She is just playing with you.

I would not worry about that. I have gone through this several times - my oldest, who is now 22 - went for two years wanting peanut butter sandwiches and dry cereal. My youngest, who is 14 now - went through grilled cheese sandwiches for almost an year. In time, she will out grown this and start eating other things. You just have to be patient with her.
I have four kids, the other two were just opposite and would eat almost anything you gave them.

I have a 21 month old boy, he's the exact same way, and has been since eating solids....he loves crackers, peanut butter and jelly (crackers) just about everything he likes is a "cracker" ...lol anyway, my doctor says that he is getting exactly what he needs, not to worry, that he WILL grow out of it and begin to try different things when he gets ready. Also, remember, they are like us in a way, you kindof get tired of the same old thing everytime. My husband and i eat certain things and that's pretty much what we stick to every week. And sometimes our son eats, and sometimes he throws the plate down and refuses...but, she's getting what she needs or else she would eat whatever you put in front of her...know what i mean..? Anyways, good luck, you just need to keep trying to offer her things that you know are good for her, and eventually, she'll develop a taste for other things. Good Luck....

Well i have a 3 year old and he LOVES his daddy sometimes i think more than me lol He is a very very picky eater and if i wanted him to try something new I'd have daddy eat it first so he could see that daddy likes it and he always tries to do everything daddy does. One thing my son loves and only wants to eat are chicken nuggets. When I cook any kind of real chicken breast or something I have to tell him that it is just a giant chicken nugget lol funny but it worked!

I HAVE AN 18MTH OLD AND THE DR.'S WILL TELL YOU WHEN THEY ARE HUNGREY THEY WILL EAT. BLAINE EATS MAYBE ONE GOOD MEAL OF THE DAY AND IT JUST DEPENDS ON WHAT GOOD MEAL HE ATE THE DAY BEFORE. DINNER TIME IS A JOKE LAST NIGHT HE HAD 1 BITE OF POT. AND 2 SLICES OF GARL. BREAD. BUT TODAY HE ATE GRITS AND CEREAL FOR BREAKFAST. IF I CAN'T GET HIM TO EAT ANYTHING THEN I TRY APPLESAUCE OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. I HAVE A FRIEND THAT SAID HER SON ONLY EATS FROOT LOOPS FOR ABOUT A WEEK AND THEN THE NEXT WEEK HE TRIES GOOD FOOD AND HER DR. SAID THAT IS FINE. MINE LOVES FRENCH FRIES, SO I TRY TO BAKE SOME IF NEED BE, IT IS BETTER THEN FRYING ALL THE TIME.

HOPE THIS HELPS

I think a lot of children go through that stage where they are really picky....I have 3 girls and on of them is 18 months right now....Just keep on offering her what you all eat and eventually she will start to eat it. My daughters love mac and cheese and mashed potatoes, peas and corn. She also loves popcorn chicken....grits, eggs, pancakes etc... hot dogs....OH and soup! She loves soup even tomatoe soup and crackers! I wish I could get mine to eat a sandwhich though! she is totally against bread of any sort!!!!
