Sympathy Pains... My Husband!?!

So my husband and I are best friends and are super close. Our first pregnancy went great! I had little morning sickness and super cravings for Wendy's and Junior Mints. We had a beautiful super healthy baby boy.

Well, we are currently pregnant (13 weeks along) with our second baby, and boy is this time sooooo different. I understand each pregnancy is different, but really?!

So this time around I have the worst morning sickness, which is subsiding thanks to anti-nausea meds, and I am super moody with horrible headaches, and recently I am beyond drained and cravings have begun. Well, on the days that I feel okay, my husband has the same symptoms as I do. It is kind of amusing to me because I joked one day "Awe sweetie you feel my pain. Thanks for taking over for the day!" Turns out after that it became much more frequent... even his boss noticed. This has been going on for three weeks now. This is a whole new territory for me to experience (and my husband for that matter).

So now that I've come to terms that this is real, my questions are: Have any of you moms out there experienced the same thing with your husbands? If so, what was it like? How do I mentally prepare for the possible "Labor Pains" he might experience? Anything I can do to help my husband not feel so weird about having sympathy pains?

Any advice or personal experiences is greatly appreciated!!! Thank you in advance :)

My husband had the same thing when we were preg with our first son.....I was sick as a dog, and so was he.....it was crazy. Well his "pains" and craving went away as I hit end of my 2nd tri and I had mine the whole 9 months. I was just as sick with our second son (and now with our 3rd), but hubby does not have any of it. I have no idea what it was, but heard some guys get it .

You are of course energetically connected and even more so as you carry a part of him inside. My husband had a number of my symptoms too, he was more tired when I was more tired, he had water retention and mood swings and more.

I used to be a childbirth educator and I saw this with the couples all the time. Some of the dads DID experience some "labor pains" too. I will say it is important that both of you are relaxed and feel safe during the labor, and that BOTH of you empty your bladders during the labor.

I would read the book Spritual Midwifery.

You are not alone in this. When I was pregnant with my first child I had no morning sickness or anything like that (yeah me) but my husband on the other hand got it for me. He was sick my entire pregnancy and did have some minor stomach cramps when I was in labor but nothing major. It is not unusual from what I have heard. Just tell him to hang in there I mean its only 9 months right? =)
