Swollen Lymph Node or Something Else?

I have just recently noticed a small lump on my 3 yr old's neck, just below the jaw bone on the right side. He has had a little runny nose this past week, but that is it. Was thinking it could be tonsils, but he doesn't complain of his throat hurting or anything. It is about an inch across or slighty smaller, moveable. Everything I read says prob. a swollen lymph node. He does have another, smaller one lower down and further back on his neck that he has had for well over a year. Doctor is not concerned about that one. Just don't know if I should take him to the doctor for this one or just watch it for another week or so. Hate to waste money and time if they are just gonna brush me off. Also don't want to expose him unnecessarily to sick kids at the dr's office. Have any of you had any experience with this? He is otherwise acting healthy as a horse. Eating well, active. It doesn't seem to hurt him. Thanks in advance.

S., there are some very simple things you can do from home to assist your children whenever the internal debris of the lymphatic system build-ups that will generally cleanse the lymphatic system. Neglecting this can lead to hardening of these nodule and it is only when it gets at this stage of its development do physicians know what to do about it, and/or considers it worth dealing with - surgery is their primary answer.

Whether tonsils or lymphs, surgery should be the very last resort and with some coaching you can avoid this.

Tonsils are the first line of defense for the immune system regarding germs and pollutants entering the body via the mouth and to have the tonsils removed compromising this system for the rest of the the person's life.

I know you are not thinking it is tonsils but similar to what the physician has already diagnosed, however, I wanted to share this information on tonsils so you and other readers will take heed to their importance. Many physicians seem to think there is little consequence of tonsil removal, yet at the very basic of all knowledge is God has an important purpose for all the parts of our body and expects us to respect His gifts and learn how to take care of them "naturally" with herbs and foods and other true healing sources.

If you would like more information on the above in answer to your concerns, please call me at ###-###-#### C.S.T. between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. (close 12-1 p.m. for lunch). Best times are 11 to 12 noon, M-F. If I am unavailable when you call, please ask my assistant to schedule you at Free Inquiry Telephone Consultation. HI S.,

Dawn's right. Swollen lymph nodes are usually a sign of holding something at bay. Try boosting his immune system for a few days and see if the swelling goes away. I use Elderberry syrup mostly because it works and tastes good. No one in my family ever fought it. Echinacea is good too but it doesn't work unless you remove all sugar from your little ones diet...and at three that's not always possible. Vitamin C is good too but most you buy have too much sugar in them so they don't do a lot of good...

If the swelling doesn't go away within a week, I'd let someone look at them.

Hi S., I can understand your concern, my son has had a palpable lymph node on his neck for over a year as well. With a new one popping up I would take him in. There may be some kind of infection that he is not complaining about. may be a tooth infection or even the start of an ear infection. What has the Dr said about the other one? My son got an ultrasound and blood work done and everything seems just fine. The ENT explained to me that some children just have them and as long as there are no changes it is not a problem. I just wondered what yours thought about it.

It sounds like a lymph node to me. My daughter had these when she was 1 and it freaked me out. I had one of my women friends who had kids feel it and she told me it was a lymph node.... wanting to make sure, I took little one to the dr and sure enough that is exactly what it was. I was totally freaked out, but it went away in a few weeks.
