Maybe a trip to the dr. is in order..
My 4 yr old has had swollen lips for 2 days and we can't figure out what is wrong. She says it doesn't itch but it hurts and peeled. Benadryl, tylenol and chapstick did not help. We have also increased her fluid intake thinking that maybe she was dehydrated but it is not helping either. Any other ideas?

Could it possibly be too much salt? That affects my lips in a similar way. Think about everything she's had to eat and drink the last few days and try to narrow it down to something new that's been introduced into her diet. Good luck!
Allergy to something like strawberries or even banana? Bananas used to make my lips itch and swell when I was little. Citrus too.
A high fever will cause the lips to hurt and peel.
Check for any baby asprin, or aspergum missing fromaround the house. This happens commonly with asprin toxicity. Some kids like the taste of baby asprin, and can be tricky at getting in to things we are certain they cannot.
Hope it resolves soon!
Dear M. G. So sorry your LO is going through this. My brother experienced this as a child. it was an allergic reaction to avocado! at the time. Perhaps your little one ate or drank something that she is allergic to. A new toothpaste? Drink? At school are they trying something new to clean their faces etc?
one other thought -- wind or sunburn?
Hope this helps, Jilly
Has she been in the sun when it was bright out or hot? The reason I ask is that I went to a birthday party Saturday, it was by a pool, I didn't put any lip balm with sunblock on my lips and Sunday morning they were red, swollen and hurt. They look dry on top of it all so will more than likely peel :(
Her lips also may have had a reaction to a food or something she normally doesn't encounter. In the past 10 years I've had two serious episodes where my lips were red, swollen and hurt a lot, in both cases it was a reaction to a toothpaste. Benadryl did nothing and I had to take an antibiotic in both cases. I'd give her pediatrician a call and see what they advise.
