He needs to get in to a doctor! My husband had this problem and it was a hernia. He can't let this go! I don't know what he's thinking, but it will not go away.
Good Luck!
I am hoping that you can help me. My mom told me today that my dad has a swollen testicle. It is the size of a small apple. He is in alot of pain, but will not see a doctor, or go to the emergencey room. My grandpa, his dad dies from colon cancer. He is a heavy drinker and smoker. I am worried about what it could be. Anyone have any clues as to what could be wrong? Any help is great.
Thank you everyone. He has never been to the doctor as long as I can remember. He says as long as he is standing, than he is fine. I am going to keep trying to talk him into going. His dad died from colon cancer, but that does not seem to bother him. Well I will keep you updated. Thanks again. Your support is very much appreciated.

My girlfriends son was recently hit in his privates while playing sports with no cup on. ouch!
Anyways he was swollen to the size of an orange. he actually had to have part of his testicle removed from lack of blood flow. Your father needs to see a doctor NOW!
He needs to see a doctor. There is no other option. He is probably scared and should be but not doing anything isn't helping. My grandfather was stubborn and wouldn't see a doctor either. By the time he went it was too late. He died of prostate cancer...one of the most curable types of cancer. That might not be what he has but he needs to take care of himself. Some how you have to find a way to get him to go.
My brother had the same symptom and went to ER. He had testicular cancer but they were able to do surgery to remove the testicle, and some lymph nodes it spread to because he waited too long. What too many people don't realize is the lymph nodes near the testies are easily infected by the cancer and then the cancer will quickly spread through the lymphatic system. My brother went through 3 rounds of chemo and is now doing well. Please get your dad to the doctor!
It sounds like your dad has a hernia. He needs to see a doctor to be sure.
he could have an infection.
he could also have testicular cancer but that is more common in young men.
he should definately see a dr.
Hi there, I am sorry about your dad's situation. A swollen testicle can be very serious. Men can get a "twisted" testicle, which can cause alot of serious problems.. The problem is that generation, some you can't keep out of the doctor's office and others,,, won't go even if their lives depend on it. I hope this works itself out.
My son had the same thing. It was a cyst - they drained it and he was fine. If he is a heavy drinker, it may come back. It is just like the cysts we women get...they are aggravated by caffeine-sugar-alcohol, etc. He really should get it checked - as with any other condition, if left to fester - the fluid may become infected.
He is probably scared to death to go - it is an irrational fear in that...just because he doesn't go - doesn't mean something isn't wrong... but you have a hard time explaining that. Maybe try something like - It is there whether you go to the Dr. or not - but if you leave it, it is only going to get worse... Mom needs you - and she needs you to be healthy... What would happen to Mom if something happened to you----
Good luck
It could be a hydrocele - essentially a benign water filled cyst - sometimes they can develop quite rapidly. However, there are lots of other possibilities mentioned here that should get your Dad to a doctor yesterday! I just can't believe that grown adults put their head in the sand like this with medical conditions that obviously need quick attention - is he embarrassed to let a medical person who sees people's "stuff" every day examine him? Or is he scared that it could be cancer? In any case, the longer he waits, the worse it will get and then any decisions that could have been made about this will no longer be available. I am sure you know all of this, but you have to find a way to convince him to go - maybe you can recuit someone he listens to, if not your mother or you...
i dont want to scare you , but that happen to my ex and he had testicular cancer, he waited too lated and only lived about a year after the diagnoses. i would suggest getting it hecked asap

Tell him to get to a doctor quickly! My husband had the exact same symptoms a couple of years ago. I forced him to go to the doctor after several months. It turned out to be testicular cancer that had already spread to his lymphnodes. He had to have surgery and radiation at Karmanos but he is fine now. Please tell him not to wait. This is completely treatable and curable if it is caught in time. Good luck. I'll be keeping him in my prayers. Please keep us updated. :)
