My son will be 1yr old in 2 weeks and I would like to switch the milk from formula to Cow's Milk I don't really remember the correct way to do this. If I remember clearly (its been 17 years since I had to do this) I have to give it a waiting period of 24 hours of no formula feeding before I feed him Cow's milk. Is this correct?

What can I do next?

Cow's milk isn't really necessary for kids or anyone else besides baby cows. All the research points to negative health effects like Type II diabetes, ear infections, allergies, bone loss (animal protein drains calcium from your bones) and a host of other health issues.

We have always fed our kids (who are ages 17 months and 4) Organic plain soy milk and almond milk which contain no saturated fat or cholesterol, have necessary dietary fiber and contains 100% usable protein. The calcium in cow's milk is only 32% usable.

My pediatrician said that you mix some of the cow milk with the formula a little more each time until it's only cow milk. Just thought I'd share!

D.,

My son recently turned 1 year old and I didn't wait a 24 hour period to switch. Believe I had his 1 year appointment with the Dr. for the okay to switch to regular milk and gave it to him either for lunch or dinner the same day. Had no problems switching and my son took to the new milk right away. Good luck!

With both my daughter i just started giving her whole milk in her bottle and she seemed to like it. My son was a little more difficult since i breast fed him. but once i got him drinking from a bottle the transition from formula to milk was simple i gave it to him in the morningone day to make sure he wasn't allergic and then gave it to him after that normally.
