my daughter is 6 weeks old and i stopped breast feeding her at four weeks..i stared out giving her infamil formula...i tried all the home remedies...cyro syrup/diluted prune juice (which helped a little) diluted apple juice..after really bad constipation and a doctors visit he(the pediatrician) switched her to similac advance/miralax laxatives and suppositories...now she's not constipated but she still not going on her on so i was thinking about switching formulas to similac sensitive for fussie/gassy babies...I don't know if this would actually help or just the same formula with a different name..any suggestions or advice with this situation?

What can I do next?

Any big change is the babies diet is going to effect her. My little one doesn't go on a regular basis at all (he's 5 weeks). I was concerned also. My doctor told me that there is no need to worry. Babies can go up to a week or more without having a bowel movement. He said unless it is solid (like little pebbles) or he screams like it is really painful. I would not keep switching her diet. Try one formula and stick with it for quite some time. My doctor said not to switch formulas more than once a month. I'm new at this too, but literally just went through it two weeks ago.

Hi there, my pediatrician also told me that babies can go quite a while without having a bowl movement. At this point, I would not give anything else but only formula. Unfortunately, I am not that familiar with the different formulas. Maybe get a second opinion from a different pediatrician?

You can still re-lactate and get your supply back, that would be the best for you and your baby.

Never use Caro Syrup for babies. It can cause botulism. Something about the way it's processed or something. I was told by several drs (in and out of the hospital) and a nutritionist to NEVER use Caro Syrup. Apple juice also isn't a cure for constipation. It has the opposite effect. How long has she been on the formula? It takes babies awhile to adjust their systems to something new. My dd would go for a week or more without a poop. It's normal. She may just need some more time to go. Stay on the formula and give it time to work and her to adjust to it. If you're still concerned, call her pediatrician.
