Hi! My husbands twin brother and his family (wife, 8y/o boy, 6y/o boy and 3y/o girl) are coming into town this Summer -- end of June til end of July. I'm trying to brainstorm ideas of what to do and just wanted to get your thoughts! My husband and I have a 3y/o and 1y/o (all the ages I listed will be the ages of the kids at the time of their visit). We are pretty familiar with kid/family-friendly activities in the Naperville area but wanted to get ideas from all you parents! On my list I have...Centennial Beach, Brookfield Zoo, Navy Pier, Ribfest, Kane County Cougars game...my list is longer but you get the idea! There will be days that we will split up the kids and the dads take the older boys and the moms take the younger kids -- any ideas are welcome!!!

We are also looking into taking a trip with them. Possibly Florida...flight will have to be short since they are flying in from Switzerland. My husband would like to go somewhere by the ocean...Florida, Carloinas...etc. Thanks so much!

What can I do next?

Myrtle Beach,SC is always fun! We went before my son was born, and when my daughter was just shy of 2. Obviously there is the beach, but there are lots of attractions and fun things to do for the whole family. There are a lot of Ripley's Believe It Or Not type attractions in Myrtle Beach.
Sorry, as for things around Chicago, aside from all of the museums and Shedd's aquarium, I really don't know.

My favorite summertime activity is Millennium Park. There is a Children's Pavilion (that is free) and fun for all ages. We usually go there, then see the "Bean" and then head over to the fountains with the faces on Michigan. You can bring a picnic and let the kids go wild. The buildings are the backdrop and on a sunny day is absolutely beautiful. Also, if you are in the Millennium Parking Garage by 10 am, the price isn't that bad for an entire day in city. Good luck and have fun, sounds like a great vacation!

The Florida Keys--rent a condo on Islamorada for a week. Lots to do and see, and you can take a drive out to Key West. Nothing like it in Switzerland!
