My family uses Microdine Hand Scrub. Microdine kills 99.99% of most germs, including MRSA, c-Diff, pneumonia, and influenza.
94% of the time, germs are transferred via touch -- i.e., through your hands touching an infected surface, and then touching your eyes, nose, and/or mouth.
Microdine is designed to be used 2-3 times per day, and to wash your hands normally between applications. Microdine binds electrostatically to your skin (meaning that it won't wash off - it comes off as your skin cells slough off), so your skin stays actively anti-microbialy for six hours.
We avoid using alcohol hand sanitizers. Besides the fact that alcohol dries out your skin, alcohol only works for about 5 seconds, and kills both harmful bacteria and the body's natural protection equally - meaning that after using alcohol, you will have completely clean skin on which germs will easily grow. Alcohol over-use has also resulted in alcohol-resistant strains of bacteria, including alcohol-resistant C-Diff, which is a big problem in hospitals.
