Has anyone had a child use a product that actually worked to keep a cast dry in a swimming pool?
There are a lot of options online -- just wondering if any of them actually work.
I had a water-proof cast on when I was a child. I went swimming, went to the beach and showered. =)
TOTALLY pay the extra $$ for the waterproof cast. My son was in a waterproof cast 2 summers ago and it saved our summer. Vacationed in alaska fished for salmon, returned to texas and spent MUCH time in the pool and on the boat. He was able to do all things to do with water and watersports!!
My little girl had a waterproof cast that she swam in. It cost us $90 over what insurance would cover but well worth the money to save summer!

This is what we bought and used for my daughter when she broke her arm in the middle of summer. Worked great! Never had a problem with it. She used it in the shower and the pool.
Having had casts on myself, I would just wait it out till the cast is off. Don't take chances of unclean water getting in and it getting moldy and itchy against the skin. It's temporary. If water fun is what is wished for, use the back yard and super soakers or a sprinkler to run through w/out getting saturated.
I have worked as a pool supervisor for over 20 years. Unless you get the GoreTex cast (which is the waterproof one), DON'T take the chance. I have seen MANY people try, and those products don't work well over a regular cast. Then it gets wet and has to be recasted. Plus, when you have the waterproof one, you can kinda (and I mean kinda) keep it cleaner than a regular cast and it won't smell as bad in the long run.
nope none of them actually work. My son was broken last summer and none of them worked you need the waterproof cast but it will cost you
