I am looking for inexpensive swimming lessons to put my daughter in. She is 6.5 and she's very afraid of doing anything in the water except stay by the sides of a pool. She won't even swim with a life jacket. Her brother is 5 and he'll swim across the pool with a life jacket. YMCA is over $100 and that's way too much. Looking for under $50 if that's possible...Any help? I will travel a little around (Coon Rapids, Roseville, anywhere between) to get it in that budget price

My daughter went to Roosevelt Middle School for swimming lessons, they are fairly cheap-I can't remember the exact price, but nothing compared to Foss Swim School, so worth looking into.
Brooklyn Center Community Center has lessons that are less than $50 for a session. Sessions are Fall, Winter, Spring (each is about 10 weeks long) and Summer (not sure length of session).
Shoreview Community Center ("The Tropics") offers swimming lessons $67 if not a resident. 2 of the 3 times my son has taken lessons there he has been the only kid in his class...so private lessons for the price of group. The other time there were only 2 other kids. The kids start in a zero depth pool and don't move to deeper water until ready.
Im not sure who to contact but i know through anoka-hennipen community ed they have swimming lessons. I know they do sessions at the roosevelt middle school in blaine. I believe the sessions are only like 30 or 40 bucks to. Maybe you could contact the school or find a number for the anoka community ed to find more info. The school is right off hwy 65 and 242 (main street).
