Does anyone have an recommendations for swimming classes in the Bothell, Woodinville or Kirkland area? My son is 3 1/2 and has never been in a pool. I'd like him to feel more comfortable/confident around water. Thanks!

What can I do next?

You can't go wrong with a Waterbabies program!

And, we've also had very good luck with lessons at the Mountlake Terrace pool, which has a really fun shallow play pool for the kids to play in as well.

St. Edwards Pool in Kenmore is Part of the Northwest Center Pools and offers lessons, as well as the YMCA in Bothell/Woodinville. We took our kids to both places, and had good results.

I recommend the Community Montlake Terrace Pool. If your son has not had access to the water they have the BEST! indoor wading pool in the world maybe, I think. I am a mom who used to be a nanny and I found it out about 3-4 years ago. They also have swimming lessons, snack bar, outfitter, great locker rooms, and plenty of parking.

You can take lessons at St. Edwards State Park. I have heard they are very good. Also there's Connie Chapin who lives in Kirkland who had an Extreme Home Makeover. She teaches lessons all read round in her pool (Angelfish Swimming). It has a tent over it for warmth. She lives off of 116 Ave NE. www.angelfishswimming.com

Peter Kirk pool in down town kirkland has summer lessons. It's cheap and they get them to not be afraid of the water. The parent goes in with them. Our 3 yr old liked it alot.

My daughter is 23 months old and we just started swimming lessons a few weeks ago at Juanita High School. I picked JHS instead of St. Edwards, because the pool is so much brighter, bigger, and the shallow end is REALLY shallow. :) It's $60 for 10 lessons, and my daughter is having a blast! She went from being super clingy the first week, to jumping off the side last week! SO FUN! They also have open swim from 11:30-1:00 (or something?) a few days a week and NOBODY is in the shallow end- just a few lap swimmers in the deep end. My daughter and I go a lot, so if you're ever up for a swimming play date, let me know!

GIve Connie Chapin of Angelfish swimming a call! She's AMAZING and just wonderful with little ones. Not sure if she has space but it's worth a try! She's a very busy woman so if she doesn't return your call right away, keep trying! : ) She's in Kirkland...http://www.angelfishswimming.com/

Connie Chapin of Angelfish swimming in Kirkland. We tried several, cheaper places but one lesson with her is like 10 with anyone else. She is unbelievably patient and good with even the most frightened children.Your child will love her.
(She is the one whose house (and pool)was rebuilt by the extreme makeover home edition last year, so her new pool should be really nice too.)

I would suggest NOT taking him to the Bothell pool. We took our toddler there for the parent/baby classes, and they were a complete waste of money. The "instructor" was a teenager who just stood in the water and did nothing. After I complained, the manager called me and then gave my name to another person who was supposed to give our money back. That never happened.

Anyway, if you can go the extra distance, I found the Mountlake Terrace Pool to be a wonderful place to take children! They are organized, fun, not too expensive, and the pool is great for kids of all ages. It has fountains, slides, toys, etc. to keep them all busy! Here is their website: http://www.ci.mountlake-terrace.wa.us/cityServices/recrea....

Good luck to you!
