I took my daughter in the pool when she was 3 months... and only that late cause she was born in March! I might be leery if there was too much chlorine in the pool or something, but otherwise, I don't see why there would be a problem. :-)

Most pediatricians recommend not putting a baby in a pool until he/she is at least 6 months old because they cannot control their body temperature, and they cannot tell you when they are cold. There is a very high risk of hypothermia when you put them in before the 6 month mark. You also aren't supposed to be using sunscreen until at least 6 months old, so it would be difficult to be out swimming with your son during the day. Just my thoughts...

Ask your doc...it probably depends on where you are thinking of taking your baby and maybe more. He's still a "tiny boy"!

I was told by my pedi not to put her in the pool until she was 6 months old. Also you cannot put sunscreen on them until 6 months so the sun would not be good for him. I would call your Dr and ask them what they think.

Absolutely, there are plenty of moms that have their babies learning to swim from day one. It's actually easier to teach them to swim at this age because they still instinctively remember the weightless, watery environment of the womb and they naturally and instinctively hold their breath without letting all of that thinking and panic get in the way. Best of luck!

yes, but make sure he has water proof sun screen on and olny in the evening. It is very threaputic. It help with building his motor skills and coordination. Also don't get eye in the water very much or until he use to being in the water.

Agree with many of the below posts to ask your pedi. If the pool is outside, I would be wary of the sun since as someone pointed out, you can't use suncreen until they are 6 months old. But again, your pedi would know best.

Ask your doctor and check the process they use to clean the pool... exposing a baby to chlorine is not recommended.
