If you are worried get him some earplugs. The trick with the rubbing alcohol after swimming works.
My son was diagnosed with swimmers ear Fri. morning. Hes been on the Rx since then. The Dr. said he'd be ok to go back in the water on Mon. That seems too soon to me. Don't you think he may need a week? Hes dying to get back in the pool again, what do you think? Should I let him?

My girls get swimmers ear every summer, especially if we forget to use Swimmers Ear drops after they go swiming. My doctor also says to use the drops for two or three days without any pools. Once the ears start to feel better, they can get back in the water. Continue to use the drops and start using the Swimers Ears drops after he goes into the pool.
If the doctor said it is okay than I am sure it is okay.
My son and I get wwimmer's ear and ear infections. My doctor said to put a drop of olive oil into the ear before swimming, and to use Aqua Ear after every swim.
My daughter has had it and was back in the water the next day. If he feels better let him in. Keep him on the antibiotics though until they are finished.
Also if he starts getting the pain again, a little rubbing alcohol works too.
I have three on a swim team this summer and one swims for the high school in the winter, swimmer's ear is just an annoyance in our house.

Hi, J:
I think you know that swimmers ear is "water in the ear."
You know the ear syringes you have for babies? Get one and after
your son swims, take the syringe, squeeze the bulb, then put the
tip of the syringe in his ear canals and release the bulb.
The vacuum will pull out the water. Repeat the process a couple of times
so you know all the water is out of his ears.
hope this helps.
