Both of my girls love to swim. but both very prone to swimmers ear. What is the best way to prevent swimmers ear infection. I have seen ear drops for after swimming, earplugs while they are swimming, ear dryes for after swim, so many I am confused what will actually prevent them from getting swimmers ear again! Thanks!

Rubbing alcohol is just as good as anything you can buy over the counter.
If they get water in their ears that night put in some rubbing alcohol. Just a little drop.
We dont' use ear plugs as they can't hear with them in and they are uncomfortable. All 3 of mine are on the swim team.
Pulling a cap over the ears works too.

When we first got a pool growing up we all had swimmer's ear too mnay times & the Dr. finally told my mom just to use a syringe with rubbing alcohol afterwards. It only takes a couple drops in each ear.

You can buy the drops for swimmers ears. You can also use some rubbing alcohol and put some in each ear and then shake your head side to side. also shake the head side to side to get the excess water out of the ear. I tell you all these things since I was on swimteam for five years. good luck

Swimmer's ear drops work great. keep the bottle handy. It helps dry up the water and draw it out so they don't develop it :)

I grew up swimming, and my mom used to put a mixture of 1/2 rubbing alcohol, 1/2 white vinegar, just a few drops, in each ear after swimming. I forgot all about it, and when one of my daughters got a bad case of swimmer's ear, our pediatrician recommended the alcohol/vinegar solution. You can also buy the drops, but the alcohol/vinegar solution works just as well, and it's so much cheaper.

Definitely rubbing alcohol. Just tilt head to side, fill up the ear canal with alcohol, wait a couple of seconds, then tip it out by tilting head the other way.
Many, many years of swim team...

From my experience, I'm 62 and had this issue a lot when I was younger. We swam in a lake a lot in my early years and got them more frequently than when I swam in a pool but got them from the pool too. My doctor told me to use hydrogen peroxide. An ear dropper full in the ear for about a minute and drain. Do this each and every day when coming home from swimming. I rarely had swimmers ear after that. I'm sure the principle is the same for alcohol, both treatments dry up excess water in the ear canal so bacteria can't breed.
