Hi moms! I'd like some feedback from any moms that have tried a swim school for their infants. I think it would be lots of fun and great bonding time with my 5 mo. old daughter but I wanted to research it first. Mostly, I want to be sure it's very clean. Any thoughts would be much appreciated!!

What can I do next?

My husband had been taking my now 30 mo to Kids First Swim School in Cockeysville since she was about 11 months. They go each Friday night to a Mommy & Me class. He likes it for the "acclimation" that it gives to the kids. The best part is the water is WARM. Like, if you are in the pool area w/ anything on other than a swimsuit, you'll be HOT!

She didn't like it at first, but he kept her going and pushing her and now she loves it. She's ready for swim instruction, except that she's too immature still due to her age.

I say go for it. And, I really wanted to pull her out at the beginning b/c she cried so much!

The SKIPS class at the YMCA goes from 6mo to 2yrs. I've been taking my 9mo old. They have a few sessions--we've been going on Saturdays from 11:15-11:45. The water is 85 degrees, which is not quite as warm as you think it is...but they do cute songs and activities. It's for parents and kids.

I am doing the same thing with my 4 month old son. We are going to go to a swim center in Columbia. My neighbor has a 6 1/2 month old who is doing the same. We are going to kids first swim school. We will be doing this probably in April. The link is http://www.kidsfirstswimschools.com/index.html
I hope this helps.

Meadowbrook has Get Wet classes for infants. They are good and they are fun and not wildly expensive ($60 for 6 weeks). The heated pool is clean, even if the changing rooms aren't all that up to speed!
