Elite Aquatics in Lenexa is awesome. The place looks, well, don't be put off by the appearance! It's an older facility, but it's clean and the staff is really good with kids. The classes are limited to six and you get the same instructor for each class. The place is kept very warm and the pool is like bathwater!

I think it's expensive, but every budget is different. My daughter refused to put her head under water and they had her doing it at the first lesson. And laughing while she did it! She was never afraid again!

As my kids got older, we switched to the Blue Valley Aquatic center and they are good too. And less money, but I think you may have to be three to get in. You may want to look into that.

Sorry for the long-winded post! Good luck!

Midwest Aquatics at 159th and Metcalf (roughly). They were great! That's where my kids learned how to swim. IF Miss Ann is still there don't be put off by her - give her a try! My daughter is very shy and had a rough time trusting that she could swim. She didn't want to go in the deep end ever. The first teacher we had - I cant remember her name but she was one of the owners - didn't push her and so we didn't seem to be progressing. The next term came up and we switched to Miss Ann but because her personality was stern and a little abrupt I thought there would be no way my daughter would last. She learned so much more than she had in the previous 6 week class! We made sure we enrolled my son in her classes. Good luck!

I used to take my kids to the YMCA for lessons, but the classes were large enough that the kids seemed to spend a lot of time standing around waiting for their turn with the teacher. I think group lessons work well for older children, but my younger ones did best with more one on one attention. This summer we did private swim lessons with a friend of a friend. She met us at our neighborhood pool, and I think she'll meet anywhere convenient to you. Send me a message if you would like her name and number. Good luck!

we just moved here a few months ago, so we needed to find somewhere quick. We went to the Cleaver II YMCA off of Troost at like 76th St. They do a really good job.

Elite Gymnastics and Aquatics at 108th and Phlumm. They can start at 2 years old and there are only 4 kids to a class max so they get alot of time to practice and it also helps with following directions and taking turns both my girls started there at that age and they are now 4 and 6 and are great swimmers. My 6 year can dive and swim the length of the pool by herself. Good Luck

I have all 3 of my children (3,5 and 7) at Midwest Aquatics and they really love it there. We have Miss Katie and she has done a terrific job. Small class sizes and great instructors has made this experience wonderful! Good luck to you.
